Hello people,

I have fetched the Helm of Winterhold about thrice now in an attempt to become the Thane of Winterhold.. I am unable to ask the Jarl of Wintherhold 'Is there anything else I can do for you Jarl?' . I am level 39, I also enjoy the position of being Arch-Mage at the college of Wintherhold having completed that story line.

I have completed helping three people in the following way (I wasn't yet asked to help people by the Jarl though):-

&--#62;Drop any piece of Apparel from player's Inventory inside http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/The_Frozen_Hearth inn and let someone pick it up, (it is likely that the piece will not actually be taken and can be picked up later).
&--#62;Steal http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Nelacar_(Skyrim)'s staff for http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Malur_Seloth

EDIT: I am Thane of Whiterun, Falkreath, Morthal and Dawnstar and I have currently asked Valdimar from Falkreath (I think) to return to the halls of Jarl in his town. I am still at the phase of 'The Silver Hand' in companions quest.

EDIT : I have checked in my Chest where I store all the loot, and I have the Blade of Winterhold in there. Does it mean that I am the Thane of WInterhold already, If so how can I avail a house carl from winterhold ? I have Valdimar waiting for me in Morthal, do I hand him over to Delphine ? He doesn't seem to be as good as Rayya or Mjoll.


Can you please help me out?

Edit : There is not currently a housecarl available in http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Winterhold_(Hold). Found this out just now

Why can't we still rebuild the city...

Becoming Thane of WInterhold is kind of silly.
You are essentially a Noble of a proud Hooverville.

If you have the Blade of Winterhold you are already Thane. There is no house to get in Winterhold, so no housecarl. If you give Valdimar to the Blades, you will have no Housecarl at all at Winstad. Housecarls are not something the players choose, they are awarded by the Jarl and you only ever get one per hold where you have a house. Rayya is a housecarl, Mjoll can never be one.

So I indeed am the Thane of Whiterun, Falkreath, Morthal, DawnStar & Winterhold, yet I have had 3 housecarls viz Lydia from Whiterun (before i even purchased a house there) Rayya from Falkreath (is there a house available here ?) and Valdimar from Morthal (I don't know if I can buy a property here). The housecarl from Dawnstar did not follow me since I had Valdimar already at that time. So you are saying that a property should be there for purchase in each of these cities for a housecarl to be available eh ? I will check that out. I don't want to give Valdimar to the blades since I haven't been able to get him proper armor yet. I am thinking about making a set of daedric armor for him. I don't like him as much as I liked Rayya (my favorite yet). It is said that the Blades prefer one-handed weapon wielders , so Valdimar might yet fit in to the Blades.

What I don't understand now is why I was able to fetch the Helm of Winterhold 3 times even after being the Thane of Winterhold. It did earn me gold, but it seems to be a glitch that needs fixing.
