Help me understand why frostfall isn't a pointless grind

I feel like frostfall is a pointless grind. Once you have your tent, backpack, and axe, all you need to do is cut wood, set up camp, light the fire, wait around, then pack up camp. But you need to do that for three minutes every time that you get a little cold.

That could all be done with a press of the button, but it seems like the process was extended to make it more “immersive”; of course you want to set up camp, get wood, light the fire, wait around, then pack up...so why does it need to take 3 minutes. When a blizzard comes...meh, guess you have to set up camp, but the blizzard’s never going to hurt you if you do.

In fact, it’s so grindy that I feel like fast travel could be allowed at the cost of a little durability on your axe, and it would be mechanically essentially the same.

I really wish that cold could be a little bit more like radiation from fallout. It’s something interesting to consider while you’re in combat, but while you are out of combat it’s not really a problem because you can just take steps to avoid the toxic pools.

Am I wrong, or should I avoid frostfall?

You should probably avoid it.... for the good of mankind.

Avoid it, it seems. Frostfall is something for people who play the Elder Scrolls for roleplay. It is an RPG remember.

Any so called "immersion" mod that I've played feels tedious and does nothing to help my RP or immersion, in fact it does the opposite. Maybe Frostfall is just not your cup of tea either.

Eh, I'm a pretty heavy rper, but I did not like it at all.

But so was Requiem, and that worked out great for me.

I always decrease the exposure rate to 0.5x-0.6x because 1.0 is ridiculous, and you can make the blizzards lethal. Also heating near a heat source while inside takes way too long, I've been meaning to poke into the scripts and see about changing that.

But even then they're not lethal if you're under your tent, right?
