help using air stomp

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 9:29 am

I really like air stomp, but I just can't seem to be able to use it effectively. Can someone with an xbox 360 help me out? I'd like to know some good spots for it and how to use it well. I feel like it could be used effectively with some time to get used to it. My gamertag is Johnny Salami. Also a side question: does anyone know if the DLC is going to cost anything? If so, how many MP? It should be worth it and Crytek is a fairly good company, so it should be a nice price.

To your first question: The higher up you are when you start the air stomp animation, the more damage dealt. Unfortunately power jumping on the same level as someone or even a little higher is not enough to kill someone, only hurt them. Jumping from great hights such as the glass house on Skyline or the main entrance to the building in Wall Street. Good luck though. As far as question number 2: The guy above laughed because this has already been posted multiple times. I will answer you though because I'm just a nice guy. Maps come out May 17th, 4 new maps, 800 ms points. Enjoy.

Actually I laughed because he said crytek was a good company.

Guess I could have elaborated but I was laughing so hard I just "lol"'d in the quick reply.

@OP: no you don't need to, you can jump from a high place, and look down, and when you are sure that you would hit him, press the air stomp button when you're near the ground, no need to press it in midair and pray for luck, always stay in high place and don't be afraid to jump on people from there, you may miss for a few times at first but when you get the hang of it, it would become a unique experience that can't be found else where, I myself got air stomp lvl 3, rebooted and now I got it lvl 3 again in only 3 days, good luck with your stomp career dude!

I can't believe someone has actually had results from Air Stomp. I love it because I have never been killed with it over the course of something like 300-600 hours, and I have killed probably 200 people frozen to the ground for 10 seconds after they land a missed one. My K/D when air stomp is involved is off the charts, but I'm not the one using it. I guess most people just don't realize you can aim it, and if you aim something you have a 100% better chance of hitting your mark.

To be able to get to high ground and get to good places to Air Stomp I'd recommend the following kit.

-Feline/No Attachments (I know its OP but it has the fastest move speed)
-M12/No Attachments (fastest)
-M34 (to stop them leaving if you need to)
-Air Stomp ;)
-Covert Ops (so they don't hear you, so you don't get taken out by the Ceph on your high ground, and so you hear them better)
-Mobility Enhance (to get to, and back to your high ground)

Try it on Skyline, on the highest point, stay there until someone comes to the main roof by the broken water tower and elevator shaft building. You can obviously do it other places, but mostly stick to there until you get better at it. If you see people farther away, tag them. If they're out of your range your teammates will get them, and if they come to the roof you've got a nice red arrow to Air Stomp at :)

Thank you to everybody who is trying to help. After a week or two, I got the hang of it. I can now get 5-10 airstomps on a good map, 3-4 on a not so good map. I feel as if Crytek made it a little better. Either that, or I never gave up on it, thus making me much better with it. I think people often give it a bad rep because they don't even give it a chance. In the beta, I always loved using it, and everyone else was asking why, and I just told them that getting a kill with it was an experience in itself. It's my favorite way to get a kill. Anyway, thank you to everyone, you guys all helped me so much. Air Stomp is officially my favorite module in the entire game.

Sorry Yup m8, but thats not true.

I've jumped for below my target on the stairs in the Car park map & killed them plenty of times. I've also died the same way but on Park Avenue when defending the relay in the bush at the stairs. There has been times when my air stomp completely fails. If i'm on less than 3 bars I never use Air Stomp

I'm not 100% sure but I think going in to armour modes helps the damage you give out.

How do you aim with it? I don't understand what you mean.

What does AS 2 & 3 get you? Is it even worth upgrading?

You can jump from a high place to your target, and if you're not sure if it would hit him or not, just look down, if he is directly under you, wait when you are near the ground and press the stomp button, that would save you from being a sandbag if you missed, air stomp height is calculated by the distance you fall, no matter if you press the stomp button or not.

AS 2: no fall damage: just too great for parkout.

AS3: faster animation: you stand up almost instantly after a stomp. If you managed to get stomp 3, it would be really useful.
