Help with Argonian Ranger Build

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 6:31 pm

So ive downloaded i few Ranger mods today and all I need now is a character build for my new Argonion Ranger.

Here what ive got so far:

Race: Argonian (I know the bonuses dont really suit this class, but Im pretty sure i want an argonian)

Attributes: Endurance and Intelligence (Endurance for lots of health, Intelligence for Alchemy)

Birthsign: The Lady or Atronach (The lady for Endurance boost, Atronach for increased Magicka pool)

Major Skills:
-Marksman (For hunting)
-Alchemy (Making potions such as cure disease)
-Medium Armor (or light)
-Open Slot (Weapon, maybe short blade or spear)
-Sneak

Minor Skills
-Acrobatics
-Mercantile
-Athletics
-Open Slot
-Open Slot

He will live in the wilderness, moving from place to place and sleeping in the wilderness with his trusty wolf companion. He will hunt animals for thier meat and make potions from the ingredients he collects. He will occasionally head into town and to sell some of the hides he collects. He will hunt with his bow and occasionally get his wolf to hunt for him when hes busy alchemising.

Later on when ive increased his skills he may have enough cash to afford a real home and will join the mages guild for alchemy research, and possibly the twin lamps (brother junipers)

So does anyone have any suggestions for things i should change or add?

As a ranger living in the wilderness you would almost certainly have learned how to repair you own armour and weapons. And perhaps have short blade for close combat and skinning hides ;)

That's what I'd add anyway. I'm not sure about the extra slot you'd have left over.

Sounds like a lot of fun :)

I'd go with Light Armor in place of Medium.

I'd go with Illusion for better hiding.

Agreed, med armor isn't that great, light seems like it would go better for a ranger build, as it's mostly hide or fur.

And I wouldn't use atronach, you don't have any magic abilities on your maj/min stats, so I'm assuming magic wont be a big thing for you. Illusion is good, but even if you go with it, atronach wouldn't be very important. Alteration might be another good idea, I'm rather fond of the jump and levitate spells. Or a third option would be restoration, though I suppose alchemy might cover that.

Steed might be a good sign to go with, let's you chase down or run away from your prey better.
