Help with a build :)

Okay! I played NV for an hour when it came out and basically threw it at some noisy kid outside because I hated it. While my reasons are PURELY subjective, I have come back around and I am now playing it as "Let's NOT compare this to Fallout 3". Asides from having no real interest in the story, I am enjoying it more than I initially did. I figured since, one of my funner runs in FO3 was with Energy Weapons (Laser Rifles just look AWESOME in third person-view), I thought i'd go ahead and give it a shot on NV (More or less since I ended up playing FO3 like 18 times through with a sneaky small guns character).

However, I came to a rather slow realization that ENERGY WEAPONS svck IN THIS GAME. That being said, i'v decided to take a different course away from energy weapons. Preferably, anything but Energy Weapons... However i'm having difficulty deciding on what to go with. I am using "some" mods, however nothing game changing that will take away the Vanilla NV feel. So i'm basically up for suggestions on SPECIAL(s) -- Tags -- Skills. I'll also list some of my idea's and i'd appreciate if anyone can tell me how viable it is (I'm not looking for the BEST possible damage build, but something fun that won't have me unloading 8000 caps worth the ammo into a raiders [censored] just to kill him. (I won't put in any specials because, I don't feel like counting out the numbers for each one :) ).

Guns // Speech // Explosives
---Asides from leveling tag skills, will level repair. Basic higher endurance character who can sit there and take bullets and shoot without worrying to much about dying.

Guns // Melee // Sneak
---While I wanted to avoid this for NV, I can't fault loving an assassin-style character who sets traps, kills opponents with melee in close-quarters with sneak and kills with guns at long-range with sneak.

Guns // Sneak // Speech
---Basically same take as the first. Just more emphasis on role-playing and trying to immerse myself into the game

Explosives // Melee // [undecided]
---Who needs guns when you have max strength, a friend named Batty-McFace-Smash, and lots of highly explosive materials? Seems like it could be fun, but I can't hit jack [censored] with dynamite outside of VATS. It just bounces all over the place.

Science // Guns // Repair
---Basically a mechanic type character. I figure with science and repair it should open up some neat stuff I assume will be later in the game.

Well, what do you guys think? And feel free to post what you're using and what you suggest. :)
