Help with character making in oblivion?

Post » Mon Jan 04, 2010 2:42 pm

So, which of the following should I choose?
I'm gonna go with either khajit or wood elf. (It's just that wood elf does not have night eye and I won't be having illusion as my major since using invisibility spells pretty much defeats the purpose of stealth imo.) (And also, which one do you think is more suited for a ninja type of role? I think ninjas use their swords more than bows, but I never heard about khajits having any more blade skills than wood elf, just less marksman)

As for sign, I'm going with Thief.

For attributes: agility and speed.

For skills: Blade, Marksman, Sneak, Security (I'm too lazy to get the skeleton key, plus it makes my character look more thiefish), light armor, acrobatics, and athletics.

thanks :D

You should choose which suits you more. If you like being a khajit, then go for it. If you prefer to be a somewhat more "noble" woodelf, then go for this one. That's a decision nobody can do for you. ;)

Night eye really shouldn't be a problem-- there's a fair number of random items that include the enchantment, and it's cheap and easy to do yourself if (when) you get into the Arcane University. One filled petty soul gem, any ring or amulet or helmet (my favorite place to put it) and 100 gold and you've got constant effect night-eye whenever you want it.

And with that, there's no significant difference between the two races other than appearance and style and whatnot, and that's going to come down to your own preference.

Khajiit actually start with a 5 point bonus to blade, but starting bonuses aren't really all that significant in the long run. It does mean that, lore-wise, they're a bit more skilled with a blade than Bosmer are, but in the game, that 5 point difference won't matter much. It'll mostly serve as a sort of head start, and not even that much of one.

That said, for a ninja-ish character...... I'd go with a Dunmer. :D But that's just me.

Bosmer, Elves are cool and I'm not a huge Khajit lover.

Doesn't much matter.

As for sign, I'm going with Thief.

Signs that boost attributes are worthless. Pick something else.

For attributes: agility and speed.

You're already going to have high agility and speed from racials. You're probably better off taking something else. Maybe strength and ...?

For skills: Blade, Marksman, Sneak, Security (I'm too lazy to get the skeleton key, plus it makes my character look more thiefish), light armor, acrobatics, and athletics.

If you're using a leveling mod like nGCD or RL, that's not a bad build. If you're using vanilla leveling, it needs work. You've got all three speed skills and all three agility skills as majors. Kiss +5s goodbye.
