Help with Character Setups

Post » Tue Sep 17, 2013 3:09 pm

I'm having a little trouble settling on a character setup that I like. It probably doesn't help that I haven't been playing Skyrim for very long, so could a more experienced player lend a hand?

I know this:

-I dislike magic

-I don't like melee-focused classes, combat is too simple then

-Ranged with a melee backup is too easy

I'm also open for suggestions on a general RP (just morality and such, don't care about backstory or w/e).

that sounds even harder than the nonviolent run, of you're not going to even use magic. I guess you could try to sneak through everything. raise your sneak and get some muffle-enchanted boots. you would basically play as a peasant. or you can get a follower to do everything for you, but I imagine that might get boring

The lack of magic isn't a problem, I've already done a playthrough without it. It was just boring.

how bout a hybrid character? conjuration for meless ( bound sword or axe as a last resort) and summon. Alteration and Illusion for calm, fury and invisibility, wards etc. Perhaps just the runes in distruction. The character would have to be very strategic especially at lower lvl's. OH no armor. morally grey.

Idea anyway.

Have you searched the Skyrim Blog? Lots of interesting builds there.

I would've said a Battlemage or a Spellsword, but it looks like you don't like them

Go entirely thief/diplomat. Learn invisibility, muffle, rage, and calm spells. Get muffle boots. Focus into speechcraft, sneak, lockpicking, illusion, etc. You won't have to ever significantly invest heavily into magic or normal combat.

You need pretty high illusion skill to get invisibility though. Not only the cost, but I think it's not even sold until your skill is around 75.

It might help to be a vampire for the sneak and illusion boosts.
