Help me with my character

Post » Tue Jan 11, 2011 7:42 am

I know you are not my "Personal Army" But know that you could alter 130+ Hours of my life and I will give feedback on this board. The criteria: I want something that can have heavy armour and a sword but at the same time can have Light armour with a bow - I prefer the human and elf races in the game.

My personal take on that type of character would look something like this;

Dark Elf
Thief (birthsign)
Combat (specialization)
Agility/Endurance

Blade
Armorer
Light Armor
Marksman
Block/Restoration
Illusion/speechcraft
Mysticism/Alchemy

I included multiple skills for the final three because of the efficient levelling factor. I never take all of the skills within a single attribute (e. g. block, armorer, heavy armor; all = endurance) I try to stick to one for the most efficient and easy way to get + 5's. However, you didn't mention anything about magical skills, so, i did include block and armorer, which wont dampen your ability to get +5's too much. Its really up to you but i would go with (for the final three) block, speechcraft, Mysticism. (but practice alchemy a whole lot). Heavy armor increases extremely quickly with a combat specialization and therefore you wouldn't need to take the major!

This combination of race/birthsign/specialization will ensure you a well rounded rougue type character with good bonuses to blade, light armor, marksman, and mysticism. And, enough stregth to easily fend off would-be-killers in the first 4 levels....

Dunmers, Aka Dark Elves, are the ones with blueish gray skin. I don't suppose you have an roleplaying planned?

No problem, you are very welcome!

I'd like to add that dark elves are rather awesome for rogue/combat character in appearance to me too. They have the darker skin, making them seem more stealthy, as well as a full sized humanoid build commendable for muscle size!

lol....

Another possibility, given your desire to enjoy the two different armor types, would be to use Conjuration for the Bound Armor spells. You could wear light armor, but it would be replaced for the duration of the spell with the stronger (and cooler) Bound Daedric Armor.

You can also use a Bound Dagger as your close-in backup to your bow (just be sure to keep some kind of real dagger in your inventory, in case the spell runs out in the middle of a fight.)

I suggest this, :)

Race: Wood Elf (no blade advantage but this can be easily sorted) if you are reaally botheres about the blade plus then i recommened dark elf :)
Birthsign: thief, for agility (marksman light armour) (speed=speed which you want as an archer) (luck is nice to have)
Spec: Agility / Strength for bow and blade skills
ooh Combat aswell
Class:
Blade
Marksman
Light Armour
Armourer
Illusion
Block
Mysticism

This class would end up a bosmer/dunmer rogue/archer with good light armour skills and the ability to fix their armour and weapons. the block will always come in handy, mysticism and illusion are theyre for back up, and illusion is especially handy for invisibility/chameleon and paralyze spells,

I'm still trying to understand efficient leveling and the getting +5's, is somone could explain this i would be grateful.

and is this a good class/race? :) :obliviongate:

Having mysticism as a major is a bit risky, as mysticism levels up pretty quickly, and you end up running into leveling issues.
Unless you have some sort of alternate leveling mod, then go right ahead :)

Not really. You can use mysticism sparingly. Just control how often you use it.

Redguard
Thief
Combat
Endurance, Strength
Blade
Block
Heavy Armor
Light Armor
Sneak
Marksmen
Armorer

That would be your ideal choice considering bonuses.

You mean besides disease and poison resistance, boosts to Strength and Endurance, and one of the best Greater Powers in the game? :)

haha yeh adrenaline rush is fun, but i enjoy to roleplay, so i choose races i like the look style and personality of, i dont see a 6ft'3 muscely redguard sneaking around with a little dagger, i see a redguard running around in blade armour with a 2 handed mace blitz'ing everything using adrenaline rush with their abnornal strength.

for that build he has going there it wood be dark elf, argonian or khajiit :) but thats imo ofc

My most fun characters are the ones that go against "type." Like the Altmer Barbarian, or the Orc Archer.

Have you ever noticed that whenever you find a non-hostile "adventurer" wandering around in a cave somewhere, it's always an armor-clad Orc? :)

Yep, and dunmer hybrids are Everywhere! I decided to stray from that and make myself a bosmer Ranger type guy. Slight focus on magic, stealth oriented marksman with a short sword.... not really J-O-A-T but kinda...

'Redgaurd have excellent racial bonuses with the greater power. They also have bonuses to both heavy and light armor, as well as athletics. I feel they are the most optimal from a stat-based perspective. Live like you wanna live though. My character makes absolutely no since from a gameplay standpoint. lol
