Help with COBL Luaggage

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 2:24 am

I have run into a slight problem with the luggage that you can acquire with COBL. While it works fine when I first obtained it and the summon scroll I did not realise that the luggage stays in the place you summoned. More I thought it to be like a normal summon spell and that the chest would disappear. This is largely due to my own stupidity for not reading about it first.

What I want to know is, is it possible to remove the luggage from a summoned location? If so then how, I have searched for answers but found none any help on this would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Can you bring up the console, click on the Luggage, and type "disable" to remove it from the game world?

Guess you did not check the Cobl.html readme

The Luggage
The Luggage is a simple wooden chest that once acquired, will show up in many places: Mages Guild and Fighters Guild guild halls, inns and taverns where you've rented a bed, wilderness camps (after a night of rest), bought houses, etc. To acquire the luggage, you'll have to find it first. Hint: Go west. Someone out there can paint you a picture.

Once you have acquired The Luggage it should appear in vanilla homes. To place it in non-vanilla homes (or other locations, e.g. shops), you'll have to buy a Summon Luggage scroll. You can find these at the Mystic Emporium in the Imperial City. They are not cheap! However, once cast, the scroll marks the location as a permanent home for the Luggage. So be careful where you cast them!

(However, it's possible to move around in the same cell. Move to the desired position and direction, then open console, click on placed luggage and type "set init to 0". The Luggage will move to your current position/direction.)

Thanks for having the problem before I did that~!!

I love that the Luggage is just always there where I sleep , Be it the Mage Guild...(lol Outside ) for one of them, It even shows up when Camping! But are you saying that IF I had ever used the Summon, it would never show up at any other locations? IF that is true....HOW can I get rid of the Summon spells. I would hate to forget one day and mess up a perfect relationship. I can always count on waking up and finding my Luggage!!

Not that long ago I saw the Summon Scroll and Lucky I did NOT have the money to spend or I would have bought it on the Spot! Thank You Enhanced Economy! I am always Broke, and the Vendors rarely have more then 1,200!! Charging me Double and I can only sell at 50%...hahhah

IS there a way to remove the Summons? not really necessary as NOW I know and should not forget this!! have been using Cobl for years and never cheated the Luggage to me.

The problem is the Luggage will always be where it was summoned to using a sroll, this is great for a non Cobl house mod, but causes save game bloat by the save having to keep track of all of the places the Luggage has been summoned.
EDIT to The Unknown Chemist, sorry for the semi-hijack of your thread.

@Camaro No it doesn't get rid of the luggage from it's set locations like guild halls the wilderness ect, the problem I have is when you summon the luggage to using the scroll it will never be removed from that spot, so say like me you have summoned it in the middle of a town or ayleid ruin, it will always be there with no way to remove it. I thought that summoning it would just move it's current 'permanent location' it was a noobish mistake I made by not reading the read me on cobl fully

@Palidoo I tried the disable via console and although it vanishes while console is open it re-appears straight away when it is closed, nice idea though.

Any one else know of any other ways to remove the luggage from it's summoned location via console or whatever it would be great, I mean don't get me wrong it's not killed my game or anything but I would like it 'cleaner' if you will.

No worries about hijacking bradleyh, info is info :D

It wouldn't actually remove it, but have you tried

SetPos Z 1000000

This should set the Z Position so high that you never see it-- not perfect, but might help.

I really hate to recommend trying this, but empty the Luggage, empty your Cobl sorters in your Cobl dependant house mods, and make a save, uninstall Cobl and make a "clean" save then reinstall Cobl.

I will probably try the set pos command, just the idea of the un-installing and re-installing cobl seems way to much of a headache for something that is relly not that big a problem. I have summoned the luggage to 6-8 locations max.

"empty your Cobl sorters in your Cobl dependant house mods" not that clued up on the individual features in cobl but no idea what cobl sorters are let alone how to clear them ect as for houses don't think I have any tbh not one for house mods myself.

Thanks again for the input it's all helping narrowing down what can and can't be done :)

This has me interested.

Couldn't one use the console to delete just that instance of the Luggage....or would the Game Delete all of the Luggages?

I love that my ...
Sailboat is Cobl...ya its upside down on the ceiling But its a small Sailboat. :teehee: Has the (Cobl Alchemy Sorter)
Alchemist cave ...also Cobl .. WAY to many things to list...Wish I knew modding I would make the Water barrels, work with my Thirst mod.(Has the Alchemy sorter)
BIG ass House...Glenvar Castle...Just moved in and don't know the Place yet.

Thing is, I knew right off that IF I wanted a House or some such it HAD to be Coblizied!

I don't have many mods active compared to some people, OOO, COBL, Lost spires, Kvatch rebuilt, and CoH are probably the biggest then just random things like LE and PxVampires, a journal mod just stuff that adds a bit of immersion to the game.

And again not to sure how to use the console to delete just that instance of the Luggage, just got into modding myself and found my strengths are modelling and textures. When it comes to script, console commands and the like you might as well explain it as you would to a five year old XD

I was asking IF it would work to Delete....I have no Clue either. IF you have never used an Alchemy Sorter to Store your Ingredients in, Then I would also Suggest you clean save, and reinstall. Also remember to remove everything from your Luggage.

How was Cobl installed....OBMM, Bain, or dropped in Data Folder?

Oh right lol okay fair enough, I saw an alchemy sorter in my IC home but never used it. As for install it was a drop and drag to data operation hence my trepidation in hunting it down and going through the un/re-install.
The main thing that worries me is un-installing it and then other mods or items I have stop working. the build I have now is very stable and I am loath to play with it. I guess I might have to start a REQz thread for a mod that could remove the luggage from a summoned location via a spell if console is not an option :P

If you have OBSE:

Back up your save. Then try targeting the Luggage in the console, and using not just the command "disable", but also "deletereference" immediately following. That will actually remove the ref entirely.

So I wasn't that far of on the Delete....Thanks Core for the Continued support. Also adding that to my read-me.

Good job Khettienna for actually knowing this was possible! is that kinda like doing a reverse TES4EDIT "clean" inside the Game?

Yes, you were right-on.

It is somewhat like that, yes; but it is meant to be used on references dynamically created inside the save, such as PlaceAtMe'd things and CreateFullActorCopy clones. It is the function scripters use to prevent saved game bloat when making heavy use of those functions, but it also happens to work just as well in the console. :)

Use with care, however, as I can see a few ways you could break your game with it, particularly if you try to use it to remove objects placed in the editor or still being used by external scripts or other references. Ultimately the best solution is to fix whatever the problem is within the originating mod.

Will only use it to remove the Luggage from locations it really shouldn't be. I tend to avoid using the console if I can, unless it is to get LE Menu or TLC up.

@Corepc is it possible to have a spell that removes the luggage, or have the summon luggage on a timer at all as an option in the cobl menu?

Everyone knows I am not a scripter, if you did not know, now you do, so you are asking the wrong person once again when it comes to things like that..Scripts, Quest, Dialogue, I do not do..

everything else yep..

Well, I've certainly learned a lot about The Luggage in a few minutes

Just a thought—I'll admit I haven't tried it. Since The Luggage is a configurable item in Options, couldn't one just deselect it, save, and then start over and reselect it? Wouldn't that also remove other instances, especially if your PC does a lot of sleeping around (cough, cough.) :hubbahubba:

Wouldn't they all disappear. Then you could just find the original and begin again.. no?

That would be a good way to handle it if you'd placed it many times and weren't sure where they all might be, or if you were unable to use OBSE and the console for any reason, aye.
