Help with MW Graphics Extender

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 7:23 pm

I have Morrowind GoTY up to the latest patch and obviously, all expansions installed as well as the Unofficial Patch and running Windows 7 Ultimate Edition.

I downloaded the Graphics Extender and copied the data files to their respective locations on the Morrowind/Data directory and the rest to the Morrowind folder, when i run the Graphics Extender and pick the dx9-Full.dll option, i get the following error message:

An error occured.
System.BadImageFormatException: An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007000B).
at MGEgui.Imports.GetDLLVersion(String file)
at MGEgui.DLLSelector.bSelect)Click(Object sender, EventArgs e).

The same error message pops when i try picked any of the other options.

I already installed the latest iNet version, tried running the game and exiting back out and even switching the resolution to some other then the default, but still nothing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Have you installed the C++ libraries found http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?familyid=A5C84275-3B97-4AB7-A40D-3802B2AF5FC2&displaylang=en

You also need to install Directx 9.0c, found http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS-Enhancements/DirectX-9.0c-Redistributable.shtml I have Windows 7 and MGE wouldn't work for me until I installed this.

Other than that, I'm not sure what your problem is being caused by. Try looking at http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1135315-morrowind-graphics-extender-mge/

Already had the C++ libraries, but i downloaded and picked the option to repair just to be on the safe side, still no go...downloading the DX 9.0c pack right now, not sure if i'll be able to install it though because i have DX11 right now and i definetly do not want to downgrade, unless it's the ONLY solution. I'll post there if i can't get it to work, thanks.

This is a common misconception. DX 9 and DX 11 are two completely separate entities; they will not conflict, and DX 9 is not a downgrade. In fact, this is the very reason MGE requires DX 9, it has parts that DX 11 does not come with. Hope that helps you.

Well, regardless, i downloaded that update (but the self installer thingy since i had no idea where to place the files manually) and it told me i already was up to date with a current or newer version.

In that case I suggest that you post your question in the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1135315-morrowind-graphics-extender-mge/ to read the instructions there of how to install and use it properly. :)

What version of MGE are you using? I don't remember the last time I ran into one with DX9-full as an option, unless they've been added in the last few revs. You shouldn't be running less than 3.8.0b under any circumstances, and 118/161 are better in almost all.

Considering you have dx9 as an option, I'm gonna bet it's old enough you need to update. Go grab a new version of SourceForge and try that, it may fix your issues.
