Help with Khajiiits :D New to Elder Scrolls

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 2:57 pm

Hey guys,

I'm totally new to the Elder Scrolls games and I decided to roll with a Khajiit simply cause they look bad-ass and thiefs are usually very exciting. I was just wondering, if i were to play my khajiit as a sneak/stealth/rogue character, what perks would I focus on and would it be more preferable to level up health or stamina? I know this game is super subjective, but a little guidance always helps me start out. From there, I can take over :D

Edit : From what ive read, health and stamina are about equal in importance (maybe stamina a little more). Some good perks are sneak, 1 hand, archery, light armor. Correct me if im wrong here.

Well, just focus on the stealth skills/perks and it would be better to choose stamina more than you do health.

Simply place perks in the trees that improves the most with your playstyle.
Speech, Lockpicking and Pickpocket generally gives you the least bang for the buck though.

I keep my health/stamina more or less equal, but I did focus on health the most in the early levels.

e: I use daggers only for backstabs (and you'll want the Assassin's Blade perk first for that) and 1handers/bows for everything else.

I would dual wield daggers especially if you want to sneak attack for lot of damage. It might be out of character but might want to work on smithing so you can unlock the higher tier of light armor so you can protect yourself better.

You can dual wield whatever you want. You don't need to worry about using the "best" weapons or perks unless you are playing on master difficulty.

Illusion is a really fun skill for a sneaky character.

Stamina, maybe level up health a little bit (pick up blessings from the Shrine of Arkay for an extra 25 Health, too). Ideally, nothing should be seeing you, so health shouldn't matter.

A little guidance is a great think. My advice would be to definitely put some points into sneak if your a thief. Also maybe distribute points into 1 handed or Archery depending on how you see fit, so you can take out some baddies along the way. Don't worry though, you will get the hang of it quite soon. The first character is always a little difficult since you're learning the ropes. You can use whatever you see fit for your thief. Bows and daggers will definitely be your friends if you plan on sneaky up behind enemies and placing arrows into their heads with your bow are prefer getting within the proximity and putting your dagger into their unsuspecting necks. I would put more points into health over stamina since you can still do power attacks ( holding the attack button) with only 1 stamina.

Thanks man! :D Real good advice. Do i put points into sneak the moment i reach level 2? Or do i wait till like like level 5 to start putting points in.

For me, most of my perks have gone into stealth, one-handed, archery, and light armor. I train Pickpocket and so far haven't needed more than the first perk. I'm doing phenomenally well with Lockpicking w/o any perks (I love the new system - even at skill of 24 I could pick Expert locks - some might call this broken but after the frustration of Fallout I LOVE this). And maybe 1 or 2 perks in Smithing (Steel and Arcane Blacksmith, mostly for upgrading weapons). Its really about perking up sneak for me.

I use Illusion spells (Muffle mostly) so I go 30% into Magicka and 70% Health. I never upgrade Stamina but if you're going to do a more aggressive Rogue (as opposed to always striking from stealth) Stamina is really necessary for power attacks.

Don't forget to use Night Eye - its a Mane-send!

Archery is deadly while hidden. You may also consider Conjuration for the Bound Bow if you enjoy archery - I've read that the Bound Bow does damage on par with the Daedric bows.

My quik guide to a good Khajiit assassin/thief.

-Always focus on your stealth abilities: but mainly on Lockpicking and Sneak.

-Never use weapons: those claws are not for show; Those beasties do an extra 25 DMG!

-Focus a little on alchemy: you can use poisens to do a little damage, but equip a knife in the right hand to apply poisen to it then equip to the left hand so you can poisen your enemy and still claw his face off (Ha ha ha!)

-Give him/her a Khajiit name: Don't want to ruin the imersion by calling him "John" now, do we?

There you have it, now get out there and kill something!

I have being enjoyed my kitty thief, I'm investing in sneak, alchemy, 1 hand combat, and archery with the priority from high to low

I use 1 hand word + dagger mainly because I like it's power attack, and I can handle toe-to-toe combat if my cover is blown. Sometime though,

1 thing I'd suggest you to do is don't put too much point into the first perk under stealth tree until you feel you need it. because sneak level way too fast that it tends to out-match the content at your level.

I will be making a khajit "sniper" myself tbh, Im not crasy on the looks, always prefer the more human looking chars, but the racials alone are just... awesome for a sneak and particulary a archer sneak char...
see in the dark, considering how terrible vampirism is in skyrim... is priceless, and the extra move speed will help for kiting aswell I'm sure.

Im using a 1:1 stamina/health ratio I think.

If i'd rather shoot with bows from afar, would a wood elf be a better choice?

This one wishes to clarify that the plural of Khajiit is Khajiit. One Khajiit, two Khajiit, three Khajiit. There are no esses.

Haven't I seen the term "Khajiiti" though? Is that an irregular plural?

I think it's an adjective.

About the Wood Elf, the starting skill differences are negligible. Your focus will be archery+sneak anyway, so both Khajit and Bosmer are a good choice. Racial abilities might have a bigger impact on the gameplay, though. Khajiit have a pretty good one (seeing in the dark), I find it more useful than Bosmers'.
