greetings all, first time poster seeking help. id like to try oscuros oblivion overhaul 1.33 (the full installer one).it'll be on a clean install of oblivion and shivering isle,no other mods present.what i cant work out is if i need to install the patches first, official unofficial or both.or none?in not a technical wizard like (it seems!) everyone here and ive tried asking on the ooo download site but im not sure if its used anymore.apologies as im sure this has all been asked before and im not sure wherelse to go for an answer but if anyone can help out an old luddite looking for a new oblivion experience,id be very gratefull.cheers.

You must install the official patch if you are using Shivering Isles just download the Shivering Isles patch without the Oblivion patch, you can download it here http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/static.php?page=OblivionVersionTracker&game=8 Remember what I said you must download the official patch for OOO to work however you don't have to download the Official Oblivion patch only the Shivering Isles patch
You don't have to install the unofficial patches but most players will recommend you to get them http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5296 and http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10739

I would also recommend that you try TheNiceOne's mods because he makes mods that can be almost used with any other mod, and if you don't like the oblivion magic system I recommend you download Supreme Magicka ( current latest version is 0.90 beta 3 however 0.89 is "stable" ) also you should always read the readme files its important and I know its boring just bare with me :D

Good luck with your game, welcome to the forum and have fun exploring the Province of Cyrodiil

You need to be patched to the latest patch, 1.2.4 something..
You don't NEED the unofficial patches, but they sure are useful to get.

And you will also need OBMM(Oblivion Mod Manager). It will let you install OOO as an OMOD, which gives you control on how you want OOO to work for you.

And now for things I suggest to go alongside with OOO:
Marts Monster Mod, MMM with OOO will make the game a whole new experience.
OblivionXP, Even if you don't use OOO this is an awesome leveling mod
And do not use the included Living Economy in OOO, instead use Enhanced Economy.
(Most, if not all these, have threads here on the forums)

Hope I was helpful.

No you don't have to get OBMM. leonn already said that he is using the self installer version
id like to try oscuros oblivion overhaul 1.33 (the full installer one)

You can get it here if you didn't http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.Detail&id=3953
It says OOO Complete setup EXE

thank you for your swift replys gentlemen.i played the vanilla game when it first came out and found it ultimatly to be too easy and frustrating in turn.
i want a new experience but to put on as few mods as possible (luddite remember!).i will certainly peruse the mods suggested, and if they're simple enough for a bananna fingered orc like me to install i'll have a go.thanks for your help.much appreciated.

ive only been playing for a couple of hours and short of levelling up taking longer which i was expecting and the fight being harder what should i look for to tell me its all working as it should?

Post your load order for confirmation that you got it correctly set up and ordered. With OBMM: Import/Export > View load order > Copy/Paste

If you have a Torch Hot Key in the inventory, OOO is running. For MMM, you should notice varieties of creatures and new creatures almost immediately.

Go to the imperial city bridge connecting weye to the imperial city. If you see a barrel out there, then you have MMM (at least the hunting and crafting plugin installed). Also get FormID Finder or Refscope - these mods allow you to figure out, in-game, what mod added certain objects. Select a few creatures with these mods, and it should say MMM, so you'd know it is running.

If you havent installed DarnUI user interface, I would definitely get it. It is not game changing at all - other than making the clunky vanilla interface much, MUCH nicer:

You can take all mods away from me except this one. And a few others...
