Help with Private Messaging please

Post » Fri Oct 08, 2010 9:25 pm

Hi. I cannot seem to configure things to where I have the option to private message anyone, including moderators (or I would have done so with this inquiry rather than starting a new thread).

I have consulted the help topic http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?app=core&module=help, I have also searched and reviewed http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1109473-dumb-question-time/ thread. I can confirm that the checkbox next to "Disable my personal messenger" in the settings portion of my profile is UN-ticked, yet I am not presented with the option to send a personal message anywhere. There is no envelope near anyone's name in postings, and neither is there an option in anyone's profile. There is also no option to message when I click the arrow to the upper right of profile pics and get the popup. In all of these instances I am merely presented with the options to add asa friend, to search topics, and search postings. I have tried the add as a friend thing on a mod in hopes of being able to pm them but no change.

There must be something simple I am doing wrong, but for the life of me I can't figure out what it is. Any constructive suggestions are welcome - thanks in advance!

First make sure that your PM inbox isn't full, then clear your browsers cache.

I believe, in order to combat spam, you have to post a certain number of times in the forums to use the PM feature. Seeing as you only have 1 post, I think you need 5 or so IIRC.

*The sound you hear is my head pounding on my desk*

You are entirely correct. As soon as I saw your post I clicked on your name and was presented with the option to send a PM. (apparently one need's to at least have made one post) Serves me right for my lurking ways.

Thank you very much!

Only one post is needed. After that you move from Newbie to member and PM is enabled

That kinda of information should be included in this http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/724862-forum-rules-and-general-information/. :read:

I don't know if this possible, but any new member (Newbie 0 post) could have a PM sent to them automatically once the registration is finished. :)

Matter resolved. Use your new powers of PM to message a mod and ask him to close the thread.

As your ocular powers will reveal, the matter was actually resolved by a moderator, who would have locked the thread if he saw fit. We don't need someone else to keep coming in backseat modding on his behalf.

And anyway, he'd be better served reporting the topic than PMing an individual moderator.
