Help with a Roleplay.

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 1:42 pm

So, after finally finishing with Skyrim and Mass Effect 3 I have decided to go back to Oblivion for one final playthrough. I think that I will play as a Khajiit. He will be young but somewhat angry at the world having come from a poor background. Basically he will be a Rogue and Thief at heart but I am having trouble coming up with a detailed background. I have established that I want him to be from a poor background but I can't think of much else. It must be the age. One doesn't reach eighty two years old without getting at least a smidge senile. So I think that's why I am having trouble roleplaying of late. But I digress, I am looking for suggestions for a detailed background. If anyone has any ideas I'd be much obliged for any assitance.

Born in Elsweyr. Life had always been hard for him as his parents were from a poor background, they were never taught basic social skills and instead of working for an honest living they chose to lie, manipulate and steal from others in order to get their basic supplies for living. When your character was maybe 15 his Mother took ill then died, a couple of years later his Father was getting older and his reflexes weren't as good as they used to be and he got caught stealing from a rich family. While your character was there with the Father, his Father told him to run to Cyrodiil and stay away from Elsweyr. The Father was caught and possibly killed, while your character ran away to Cyrodiil.

I don't know whether you are using an alternative start mod or not so if you are start your game from there, and if you're not you could say as your character was crossing the border into Cyrodiil he was mixed up in a fight or some sort of crime.

I don't know just something I quickly thought up, I realise it may not be very good but I'm just trying to help.

Hope you get sorted and enjoy your playthrough!

Though I do not have quite the life experience that you have attained, I am older as well, kudos on your young mind and open thinking.
Are you starting the game from the jail cell, or did you wake up on the shores of the Imperial City? I'd start there. It seems to me that this is an important, read: big, part of your backstory.
I think that figuring out your effective boots-on-the-ground moment, whether jail or not is a factor. My two septims. I've only played a Khajiit once.....

I think I should start him off in Jail. Just for a traditional Oblivion beginning. Thank you both for your suggestions. I like TalosGuidesMe's background so I think I will try to expand upon that.

I think I would have him be a freed slave from Morrowind actually. The idea is that the Great Houses freed the slaves, but basicly kicked them out with the clothes on their backs, basicly illiterate and unskilled. (actually, half of the slaves in Morrowind don't seem to HAVE clothes, but do what you want). In that situation, thievery is not "evil" it's survival. You don't know a way to make an honest living, so you take food from other people in a bid for survival. You sleep either in sewers or in abandoned houses. And perhaps you'll find someone who eventually teaches you to read or gives you a skill (perhaps the blades or fighters guild) and you can be an honest citizen.

“His-loins-sire-lions” was abandoned by his parents who had too many mouths to feed. They knew he could make it on his own and he was not going to disappoint them. He hates the furless races that have so much and share so little. Let them hoard their wealth. He will take it from them the way the other beasts in the jungle do it. No jail can hold him and no Imperial deserves his allegiance. All of them will soon know who is Top Cat.

That is actually a rather splendid idea. I may have to use that. Thank you. I'll wait and see what other responses I get before I make a final choice, however.

It's always warms my heart to see older generations enjoying video games. I hope to be enjoying them in my later years as well.

As for some Khajiiti background I have a few suggestions.

You could rp a http://www.imperial-library.info/content/ahzirr-trajijazaeri freedom fighter smuggling skooma and terrorizing southern areas to help fund the liberation of the Leyawiin area.

If that doesn't suit you maybe a Khajiit that hails from the Imperial City Waterfront that hustles and steals in the city to survive.

Or maybe an out of work seaman that was under the employ of S'shani in Anvil before he retired.

Thank you, lad. I've been enjoying video games for a long while now. As for the background I have considered both a Renrija Krin and a Waterfront Khajiit, but I am not sure if I would be able to roleplay a Renrija Krin. It would take quite a volley of dedication. Thank you for your contributions everyone.

If your Computer can support it, I'd suggest getting Morrowind for that instead. I originally had bought an old copy for my Xbox, but it was just so slow and laggy I couldn't get into it. Of course if you already have it for your Computer and just want it on Xbox then buy it. Don't get me wrong, the game isn't unplayable mind you, it just loads a lot more slowly and lags quite a bit.

I'm a mac, and am currently exploring bootcamp. Previous computers were never fast enough, but the current just might do it.

It should be able to run it, but it would probably be best to check it before you actually buy the video game though. But I have Morrowind both for my Xbox and my Computer and on Computer it is definitely superior in terms of load times and crashing. If you've ever played the Mafia games it's like the port of Mafia: City of Lost Heaven on to Xbox. It's an acceptable choice if you don't have a Computer that can run it, but given the choice go for the Computer version of the game.
