HELP with Unique Landscapes Locations

Post » Tue May 03, 2011 10:04 am

So I recently downloaded unique landscapes and seem to be having problems getting it installed properly.....I had to download an already created OMOD that contained all locations and a patch for them all in one package.

Only problem....I dont really know if it worked. I cannot find anything online about the locations of these areas. I will note that there was a Hollow Log Kodiak Den location added, and the village located in Dark Forest, and one other location added to the map. However these were the only 3 additions. So Im assuming that something in the mod worked, none of these locations seem to have anything to them though, No people, interior locations, nothing. Dark forest has a locked well that needs a key, but thats it.

The mod gives general locations that are quite large, but Im not sure that all the mods even worked. Is there a map of these locations? Or can someone at least tell me where the Gorge is? Or help me install these correctly?

Here's a http://bettercities.free.fr//UniqueLandscapes/Maps/UniqueLandscapesGridMapReleased.jpg. Not sure how up to date it is. Cliffs of Anvil is shown, so it can't be terribly old.

It'll be hard for you to tell the difference if you aren't familiar with the areas, but if you are, you'll generally see a lot more densified, unusual, and yes, unique features everywhere you roam.

Telltale signs include new buildings (mills, farms, manned forts, and functioning mines), new water features (shallow ponds filled with vegetation, animated waterfalls, rivers that actually connect to each other and drain to the sea), fancier rock formations, and the occasional very odd spot (a glowing, purplish grove just north of Skingrad comes to mind).

My personal favorite area is the Bravil Barrowfields. Start just outside the Bravil gates; it's easy to see the difference. The place is old, and it has been inhabited for a very long time, with many ups and downs in its history. The bones of glories past are readily apparent.

Most UL mods do not add new map markers. This is because the aim of the mods is primarily to add a unique look to existing locations, NOT to add new locations themselves. If you're seeing new map markers from the ULs, then they are installed and working. Now just play the game and wait until you stumble upon a UL setting, you really shouldn't have any trouble realising you just left vanilla setup and entered UL world.

If you're using the Compilation OMOD, the easiest method is probably just to go to the exit of the sewers where you start the game. The place should look extremely detailed now. If you don't see more ruins in the water and on the side of the water where you exit the sewers, you didn't install it correctly or you didn't choose the UL mod that affects this location. If you chose to put them all in, though, I always found that to be the best indicator.
