[RELZ] Hemingwey's Capes v1.0

Post » Thu Dec 24, 2009 4:32 am

Just want to be sure,,

Does it also include the Black Hand and Fancy Velvet Cape Fix has well

With everything in one download now, I can't tell how many people are downloading the MMM version anymore..LOL..

You may want to add more notes to PES entry, not very detailed, add the readme notes would do fine. PES Users are picky about this sometimes..

Corepc

The 1.02c package includes everything, including the two previous texture upgrades for Black Hand and Fancy Velvet.

I was torn about wrapping the MMM version in the package; however, because I was going to upload the mod to additional sites I decided it was the most efficient thing to do. I hope you do not mind. I was careful to give you well deserved credit in the readme and to mention that the MMM version is what I use in my own game. ;)

I do need to do some housekeeping over at PES. I was not familiar with the upload system over there and it was late at night. I uploaded all the original screenshots, but only the title page was posted...and, yes, the onsite description needs to be longer and more detailed.

In any event, I may take you up on that offer of advice in the next few weeks...once I mostly finish making new capes and get to doing work in the CS. (I use a test mod file and swap out textures while developing capes, rather than adding each *experiment* to Hemingwey's Capes.) I don't think I want to make all the new capes available for sale, so I am probably going to have to learn to work with leveled lists...

I have updated the PES download site with an expanded description and the rest of the version 1 screenshots. Also included, near the top of the description, the following:

This package also includes a special version of the NPC Capes portion of Hemingwey's Capes, designed especially for Mart's Monster Mod and FCOM. This excellent modified version, which is implemented through the Mart's Monster Mod - Hemingweys NPC and Guard Capes.esp file was developed by Corepc, who has provided me much valuable advice and assistance.

Probably an oversight on my part not to have done so in the first place. :embarrass:

I can understand wanting to have everything in once package once again, keep everyone up to date..

An article on the Elder Scrolls Construction Set Wiki states:

While not strictly a .dds tool, CrazyBump excels at creating Normal Maps from textures or height maps.

Ummm...that's an understatement...I think my modding life has changed forever...what an amazing tool! :woot:

Yeah...I'm rambling...

Very, very nice. I don't like large overhauls, so I only use Frans, and with this mod I can add capes just like in an OOO install.

crazybump is great once again, just make sure you use has much has possible before it expire if you are using the trial, if you bought it then that is even better pricey..there are just some things that crazybump can do in second that wiould minutes to hours to do in photoshop or gimp..

Glad to hear it. Wasn't sure anyone liked the way the shaman cape came out...except myself, of course. (Then again...heh...I have posted alot of preview shots...might be wearing thin.)

On Crazybump...yeah...$99 is a significant investment in a tool that essentially does one thing well. We'll see how enthusiastic I am about spending the coin when the 30 days is up. Right now I have just about convinced myself I finally need a new gaming rig. I have a 6 year old Area 51 (which has been upgraded over the years to near its maximum potential). Wondering whether to get a new one, and then whether to invest the extra $500.00 to go from 2.66 GHz to 3.2 GHz i7 processor... (taking advice, if anyone has some to offer). <_<

I also used Crazybump Beta for Art of War Museum mod (for MW), but then reverted to the Photoshop/Nvidia plug-in... Reason? I didn't find the difference in quality to justify the steep price. I agree it should cost something for professional use, but I would've welcome an abbreviated version for personal use...

On the computer subject, I'd advise you get as much RAM as your rig can handle. You probably use Photoshop (CS3?), which needs a lot of it... Also a good fast HDD comes highly recommended for your modding activities... ;) Next thing to look for is your GPU: the ATI cards are cheaper than Nvidia and they deliver! I currently have a 4890, but I hear very good things about the much cheaper 4870. The 1Gb of VRAM allows me to play Oblivion with a cocktail of QTP3 and QTP3 Redimized, on max resolution and RAEVWD... On the CPU side, I don't know what to advise you, I've been using AMD processors for the past 10 years, and I see you want Intel...

Good luck with it!

The Blades are protectors of the royal line. However, the pagentry of full battle dress is not necessarily what defines these servants of the crown. In fact, many of their ranks serve exclusively as furtive agents, playing endless games of cloak and dagger with foes of the emperor.

Presenting the Blade Agent's Cape -- preview screenshot available for veiwing on http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=29012 under the title "Agent for the Crown."

The Blade Agent's Cape was requested/suggested by Cydonian_Knight. It is an overgarment meant to be unobtrusive, yet fashionable -- with the symbol of the Blades subtly shadow-stitched into the weave of the fabric. I hope I have captured the spirit of Cydonian_Knight's concept with this latest addition to the forthcoming Hemingwey's Capes version 2.

Regards,

Hem

P.S. By the way...check out the new image viewer the folks at TesNexus have implemented...very slick!

I have to say I'm really liking the two latest additions. Maybe more "stealth themed" capes like the Blade Agent Cape? This mod will definitely be a permanent fixture in a lot of load-orders, so thanks for your work Hemingwey!!

Unfortunately, I have discovered that I failed to include the menu icons in v1.02c. I have uploaded a fix (and a corrected version) to both TesNexus and PES. So, if your first download of Hemingwey's Capes was version 1.02c, and you like having menu icons (in inventory and shops), then you may want to head on over to your favorite download site and grab the fix.

Kinda embarassing, really. :banghead:

I have done alot worse and missed whole meshes and textures and sound for stuff in MMM, was able to correct but it required a whole brand new upload.

Colovian wool is perhaps the finest in all the world. Sheared, washed, combed and carefully spun, it has long been used to produce fine garments for commoner, merchant and noble alike. A talented weaver can tease out the natural beauty of the wool's soft greys and browns, or, using simple dyes made from common plants, transform its hue to rich shades of deep green. However, in effort to please the sensibilities and requirements of nobility and wealthy merchant traders, enterprising factors and skilled craftsmen now commonly torture the fleece with all manner of extracts derived from insect scales, rare flora and exotic shellfish, all with an eye toward imposing upon Colovia's bounty the colors of royalty -- scarlet, deep indigo and rich purple.

The pleated Colovian Wool Cape is a simple, yet popular, overgarment among folk from all walks of life throughout Cyrodiil.

New preview screenshot posted in the Hemingwey's Capes images gallery at http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=29012.

Regards,

Hem

P.S. The point (for me) of this seemingly simple set of capes was making a fabric texture appear, in game, as if spun from soft lambswool (or, possibly, cashmere).

P.P.S. Still have a ways to go before version 2 of Hemingwey's Capes will be what I envision for release. Hopefully...it will be worth the wait.

This has become one of my favorite mods and I can't wait for 2.0 :). The Colovian Wool one looks fantastic as well. Keep up the good work!

Glad to hear you approve...since the Lord's Cape is meant to compliment your armor design from Gift of Kynareth. :D

P.S. Still meaning to play through the Lost Shields...especially after taking a peak through the texture files... :shifty: Perhaps once version 2 of Hemingwey's Capes is released (and I get my new rig) I will find time to actually play Oblivion...

:woot:

Was hoping I had captured what you had in mind...stealth-defining cape ideas are difficult for me for some reason....I rarely play sneaky types in games.

Still working on a number of other requests/suggestions...including a "patchwork" cape...and some Elven Cape color variations Corepc mentioned desiring.

Hemingwey's Capes in French: http://www.confrerie-des-traducteurs.fr/site/mods/vetements_et_objets/capes_dhemingwey_.php :)

Sita and the folks at confrerie-des-traducteurs are a class act. I would definitely recommend them as mod translators.

Greetings:

I have removed the version 2 preview screen shots from the Hemingwey's Capes download page at http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=29012. In my view, the number of preview screen shots I had posted was potentially confusing and unwieldy residing here.

However, I do enjoy sharing screen shots of forthcoming releases, and therefore, I have set up http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=30101 -- a place to display and view my work in progress.

Enjoy!

Regards,

Hem

P.S. There is a reasonable chance I will make available an "addon pack" containing a few of the new capes prior to release of Hemingwey's Capes version 2. My goals and aspirations for the full version 2 are likely to take several more months to realize, and I want users of this mod to enjoy some of the new capes in the mean time -- particularly several of the capes I have created pursuant to player requests.

P.P.S. Added two preview screen shots to http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=30101: the "Mantle of Morihaus" and "New and Improved Fighters' Guild and Mages' Guild Capes" -- including a "Battle Mage Cape," as well as capes I am tentatively calling "Swordsman's Cape" and "Defender's Cape." The new guild capes screenshot also features impoved textures for the original Mages' Guild Cape and Fighters' Guild Cape -- among other upgrades, the guild insignia are much improved over the original versions in terms of shape, size and color.
