[relz] Hemingwey's Capes Version 2

Post » Sun Jan 16, 2011 5:58 pm

So....as I continue development of version 3.0...I have been searching around for a better (existing) ground or world model cape mesh. I have always used the same ground mesh as used in the original Capes and Cloaks mod -- which is a folded hood model.

I have looked at numerous ground meshes for robes and other garments, but those usually have a belt or some other inappropriate feature.

Unfortunately, I haven't taught myself how to make my own meshes...yet (though I have been playing around with Blender a little)...so I thought I would see if anyone in the community might have some suggestions for an existing ground mesh that better resembles a folded cape. Any suggestions?

Regards,

Hem

P.S. By the way, development of Hemingwey's Capes version 3.0 continues at a steady pace. During the last couple of weeks, among other things, I have been laboring over adding capes to numerous additional NPCs and updating each of the three or four versions of the NPC capes esps (vanilla, OOO, MMM and FCOM) to version 3.0 (which employs an esm/esp format). I have some bard and minstrel capes in the works (which I may preview soon)....as well as additional capes for several of the divines....and a few new capes meant to match additional vanilla clothing sets....and....additonal legion/Imperial guard capes (mostly for the non-OOO version, as the IC guards in OOO already have OOO capes). Version 3.0 is perhaps 75% completed....if I can make myself stop adding things.

I'm wondering if anyone has had problems when importing inventory from "Mart's Monster Mod - Hemingweys NPC and Guard Capes" into a bashed patch. When I do it guards torsos disappear and upon further inspection with refscope it seems to make them wear nico's dreadweave armor which if you happen to have installed looks like http://i985.photobucket.com/albums/ae335/br0sk1/ScreenShot31.jpg (I installed it afterward to check what it looked like).

I reasonably certain your problem enamates from a source other than Mart's Monster Mod - Hemingweys NPC and Guard Capes.

It's definitely the cause because unchecking it under import inventory when rebuilding my bashed patch and then waiting 3 days ingame fixes the problem (plus refscope tells me that it was added in by that specific esp). I know it must be a conflict somewhere not caused just by using your mod, I'm not trying to bring your mod down or anything if that's what you think, I just want to know if anyone else has had this problem and if so how can I fix it.

PS: The new capes look sickk :)

Odd. However, my thought is that since MMM-Hemingwey's NPC and Guard Capes doesn't reference dreadweave armor (or any armor outside the Hemingwey's Capes mod), another mod (or Wyre Bash) has to be making the inventory change (asuming you haven't altered the esp) -- despite what refscope appears to be telling you. (I don't use refscope, so I am not altogether familiar with how it works.)

From the screenshot, the guard in question appears to be a legion soldier or rider...based on the inside detail of the cape. I can't tell you more than that.

Without information concerning what other mods you are using and your load order, I could not begin to guess what is causing your problem -- even then, I am no expert at fixing conflicts (except those I manage to create for myself :whistling: ). Probably best to start a new topic asking for help.

Understood -- and that thought did not enter my head.

Thanks. :foodndrink:

An old (unreleased) friend returns...

Posted a new screenshot of the Cape of the Crusader (with our lovely cape model, Robyn, in full Crusader garb) to demonstrate how the cape matches the armor set. http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/images/30101-1-1282394097.jpg

Those who have followed my humble mod will have seen previous iterations of this cape in the past.

I hope to release it in version 3.0 and have started work on a simple quest to obtain the cape...my first effort at quest creation. I don't intend to release this cape until I have a quest ready to release. Heh...wish me luck.

The quest will be for level 20ish characters.

The premlinary enchantment stats on the cape are:

Reflect Spell 10, Refelct Damage 10, Foritfy Health 50.

I would appreciate feedback as to the proposed enchantment stats as I don't want unwittingly to release any "uber capes of doom."

I previously made a thread about the problem where I was directed to ask about it here which I finally did. It's more of a nuisance than game breaking issue really (unless I import it then invisible torsos do become an issue) alternatively I can just not import it and that seems to work fine (I'm not even entirely sure what the difference is). I guess I was just nit picking because I can't stand seeing bugs and not at least trying to fix it. I'll just wait for the next version which looks even better anyway and hopefully I won't have any problems :).

It is not a Hemingwey Problem I can ensure you that. Since I found that thread I will post there.

Thanks. You, of course, were the most recent of many to suggest Daedric Capes.

The Daedric capes pictured are still a bit of a work in progress...and I have a few design ideas for the Dremora mage types...sans the Daedric metallic tops.

The match with Daedric armor is fairly close...though might improve a bit before final release.

Awesome, Hemingwey!! I am glad to see you will release the Cape of the Crusader, I have always wondered wherever it would be implemented or not. :)

Too true...but, then...I *might* be just a little obsessed with capes. :foodndrink:

Another Hemingwey's Capes version 3.0 preview screenshot....something intended to compliment a classic armor and weapon mod (http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3084) -- a http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/images/30101-1-1282951192.jpg.

Enjoy.

Hem

P.S. By the way...for those who don't routinely follow this thread...the collected preview screenshots (as well as images of many capes released in version 2, but not pictured on the Hemingwey's Cape download page) can be found at http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=30101.

So....

I was rummaging through some of my archives and found something that gave me a chuckle. About a year ago I made my first texture...ever. It took me an entire weekend to figure out how to accomplish this task. After many hours of labor (and cursing) I loaded up Oblivion and viewed the results of my efforts...not knowing that a year and hundreds of cape textures later I would still be making laboring (and cursing) over cape designs for Oblivion. It has been a great 12 months! So, without further introduction...here it is....

http://i845.photobucket.com/albums/ab11/Hemingwey/Marque.jpg?t=1283021867.

I felt the need to share.

Enjoy.

Regards,

Hem

P.S. No...I did not release this texture for public consumption....but one of its progeny is part of Hemingwey's Capes. :whistling:

Hello! Hemm... could I humbly suggest you to take a look at this http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1113303-yet-another-ctd-thread/ involving Hemingwey Capes and Cobl Races? I'm trying to understand a weird CTD that occured in my game...

AlphaUMI:

I read your thread and posted a detailed response there. As explained, there is no reason (known to me, at least) Hemingweys Capes.esp would cause the crash you describe....or any crash for that matter.

Best regards,

I understand... for me too it's hard to explain... The most probable reason is the corrupt respawn point, as Psymon pointed out, so nothing to do with your mod or any other mod in general. Just a corrupted savegame.

Best regards,

AlphaUMi.

Several folks have been asking for additional lower class or worn capes....so I gave it a shot...new for version 3.0 of Hemingwey's Capes:

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/images/30101-1-1283121217.jpg

and

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/images/30101-2-1283121218.jpg

The second screenshot/collage merely shows off a few color variations of the patched cape. I also created that cape in a drab red and a dull brown (not pictured).

Hopefully these latest offerings will prove well suited to roleplaying and enhance the general atmosphere of Cyrodiil.

"Be sure and let me know what ya'll think."

Enjoy.

Regards,

Hem

P.S. Oh...the hats. Spiffy yes? They are from Palerider...and can be found http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11014
