[relz] Hemingwey's Capes Version 2

Post » Sun Jan 16, 2011 9:53 am

Been awhile since I posted any progress updates here (I have been rebuilding/upgrading my game from scratch). So....

New screen shot from version 3.0.... http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/images/30101-1-1271437491.jpg, wearing a Hemingwey's Capes Battlemage Cape (of course  ).

I have been away from Oblivion and modding for the most part for several months.

Thought a little bump would not be out of order for those new to the community.

Moreover, I am pleased to say I will once again be working on version 3 of Hemingwey's Capes -- more capes....enchanted capes...and whatever else I happen to conjure and squeeze in.

In the interim I managed to purchase a shiney new gaming rig. I have found I don't miss frame rates in the single digits...nope...not at all. :foodndrink:

So....wondering....

I have been receiving a few requests to release some "official" theives guild capes. I, in fact, posted some previews of possible thieves guild capes with fox head emblems a few months back, but recieved no player feedback.

I am torn because it seems to me the thieves guild is a rather secretive and indivualistic group -- a loose association, rather than a structured guild. Thus, they have no discernable symbol in vanilla Oblivion.

::shrug:: I could go either way as far as including some thieves guild capes in version 3 of Hemingwey's Capes. Alot depends on what players request.

Comments, discussion...etc.?

I didnt go through the thread thoroughly so forgive if this has already been covered: have you thought about making alpha-enabled meshes so it would be possible to make different cape designs like a tapered cape that goes down into a point? I just looked through the screenshots and noticed they're all straight across the leg. Anyway just an idea for ye.

I personally feel the TG or DB would not allow members to openly show they are members of the guild with a cape, or thieves and assassins would get caught really easily, but that's just me. Whatever you decide is fine as I'm sure you would make some great capes for them anyways

I have tried this. Unfortunately, it appears the mesh would need to be reskinned in order to make this work. My skills to date are limited to retexturing. The interior skin of the existing Capes and Cloaks mesh I have been using for my capes draws some of the color map from the middle and appllies it to the bottom of the cape! Therefore, unless and until I learn to reskin or find another mesh to work with, capes with tattered bottoms are probably out.

I will agree with Qbit has well, tg or db members would get busted if they wore them out in open. Still would be nice to have TG or DB capes perhaps you could place them in one of tg or db chest for player to look for..

i dont think someone who is a member of the dark brotherhood or the thieves guidl is going to be walking around town with that cape on so ill say no. maybe include 1 or 2 different capes on very high ranking members like the gray fox or the black hand members?

Or make them really discrete, like maybe a very small symbol somewhere on the cape which would not attract undue attention but still allow fellow members to recognize each other. Now that I think of it, it might be nice to be able to tell who your fellow guildmates are, seeing as youre not supposed to be stealing from them. Anyways, food for thought :icecream:

Finally...back to working on Hemingwey's Capes version 3.0 and, in furtherance of my personal (now time honored) tradition, posting a couple of new cape screenshots from version 3.0...(more on the way -- soon):

and

Enjoy.

Regards,

P.S. Screenshots of additional preview (and many released) capes available at http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=30101

P.P.S. Currently working on a series of "divines capes," as well as Imperial Forester, Blackbow Bandit, more capes for thieves, assassins, bards and other rogues, various tattered capes (if I can manage this much requested feat :D ), expanded Imerial Legion/Guard Capes, and, of course, whatever else strikes my fancy.

Glad you like. :foodndrink:

The hat is from Pale Rider...however, I came to it by way of http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=29081 -- which I am presently playing through between modding sessions.

Yeah I like because I do not have it yet..

I reconginzed the hat has I have seen it before.

You know you have been modding too long when you are able to call from memory the person who made the mod and you never even used their mods before.

Whoa! I totally never looked at this mod for no apparent reason, for over a year! Now, I correct my mistake and congratulate you on this excellent mod!!

Quick question (must have been already asked I am sure): Are the items added to NPCs and loot per leveled lists, so that I can find these on other-mod-generated NPCs and in loot chests as well? Would love to see my friends and enemies in-game wear these beautiful capes...

I also saw notes about usage with FCOM - so I believe they are fully compatible... my FCOM game already has some beautiful capes on some NPCs (palace guards etc. - can't remember if these capes were also in Vanilla), so hopefully these are additive, not replacements.

For the most part, Hemingwey's Capes version 2.0 does not use leveled lists -- with a few exceptions (in the MMM/FCOM version) capes are added by hand to hundreds of NPCs (if you install one of the Hemingweys NPC Capes.esp files).

Version 3.0 (forthcoming) will make use of specialized leveled lists to add capes to some vanilla NPCs and a good number of MMM/OOO/FCOM NPCs.

There is alot more information in the readme, btw.

Hemingwey's Capes currently are not dispersed through loot chests; however, loot chest capes and pre-enchanted versions of some capes is part of the plan for either Version 3.0 or a future version.

Hemingwey's Capes 2.0 does not replace existing Imperial Legion/Guard Capes or other OOO added capes. The majority of the capes added to NPCs are added to Vanilla Oblivion guards of various regional cities (not the Imperial City), each matching the town guard armor for the respective cities.

Version 3.0 will replace a few/limited/select OOO capes where necessary. At some point there likely will also be an optional esp file that will replace OOO Imperial guard capes with Hemingwey's Capes Imperial Guard Capes (again, if and when I finish my work on Hemingwey's Imperial Guard Capes, this will be an OPTIONAL file/addition).

Version 2.0 is compatible with FCOM...if you use the correct optional esp file (see the read me included with the download package).

I hope I have answered some of your questions. :whistling:

Enjoy.

Hem
