Hey Hem found another bug, the orc merchant (cant remember his name) is double in this version, or he was at the inn in Border Watch.

Hrmmm...John...can you tell me *precisely* what Hemingwey's Capes .esp files you have installed? I had one other user report this problem, but the .esps he installed were not correct (he basically 'double installed' the mod). Also, if you have a save game or can duplicate the bug....can you do a quick formid finder check and see what plugin is responsible for creating each of the Ornarys (the Orc's name is Ornary the Widowmaker)?

Do you, perchance, have the old Hemingweys Capes.esp installed...or even, the Hemingweys Capes.esp patch file (to support the existence version 1 or 2 capes in a version 3.0 game)?

I just fired up the construction set and can find only one use of Ornary in Hemingweys Capes Improved.esp in a world space...

Edit: My mistake seems I have the merchants plugin to as well as an amulet plugin, would they make a difference?

I read some of the user comments on the TESNexus page concerning Visibility Unlimited...and sounds like there might be some issues...if and when I get around to checking it out...I will report back. If it works (or, in the alternative, if its script can be modified to work with Hemingwey's Capes) I'll likely mention the mod in my documentation or attempt to create a mod/OBSE script based on its concept that works with Hemingwey's Capes.

In the mean time, if anyone else wants to try out Visibility Unlimited and report back...please do so. ;)

Yeah. You have the merchants installed twice. :hehe:

For a vanilla install, you only need Hemingweys Capes Improved.esm and Hemingweys Capes Improved.esp.

You have:

1F Hemingweys Capes Improved.esp [Version 3.0b]
20 Hemingweys Capes Improved Merchants.esp [Version 3.0b]
++ Hemingweys VAN Show Amulets.esp [Version 3.0b]

The second two are from the component .esps folders. Hemingwey's Capes Improved.esp includes ALL the content in the component .esps (the component .esps are literally the component pieces of the corresponding main/standard .esp files). Deactivate both the merchants and the show amulets .esps...OR...pick and choose what you want from the component .esps and don't use the main/standard .esp file at all. (If you use components, choose between the enemies and bosses only .esps, as the enemies .esps includes the bosses as well.)

Today I have uploaded a fix for the menu icons included in version 3.0 beta. From the small readme file included in the fix download:

Users who play Oblivion on Medium or Small texture settings noted that many of the version 3.0 icons were not compatible with their game settings, resulting in the icons for many capes not appearing correctly in inventory menus.

The icon textures included in this download should be compatible with medium and small texture settings (as well as large).

I had intended to wait until the final release of version 3.0 of Hemingwey's Capes to release the new/fixed icons; however, my life has suddenly become very busy -- so...who knows when I will get around to finishing and releasing the final version of Hemingwey's Capes 3.0?

Unzip/copy the contents of this download (which consists of a 'textures' directory and subdirectories) into your Oblivion/Data/ directory (thus overwriting the Hemingwey's Capes icon textures from 3.0 Beta).

Play.

Heya, anithinks!

Forunately for me, business in the 'real world' has been very intense of late. Unfortunately, as a result, I have had very little time for gaming or modding, so I can't say when I will have time to put the finishing touches on the final release of 3.0.

I am also not sure when the new OOO version will release or what tweaks may or may not need to be made to the OOO version of Hemingwey's Capes as a result. I will investigate the same as time allows. So far as I know there are no plans for the new OOO release to provide direct/integrated support for Hemingwey's Capes. However, my understanding is that there are such plans with respect to MMM's new release.

I tried the plugin and it works on my setup. I have tried it with the barbarian mantle (NPC version) and an enchanted amulet from the shivering isles and both show up correctly.

I did not modify anything in the ini file of the mod BTW. A stock install through BAIN and it worked like a charm.

One thing though: it seems that the order in which you put on the amulet/cape matter. I'm not 100% sure as I didn't have a lot of time to test.

I just wanted to give my thumbs up on the implementation of this. It's great to be able to pick what you want instead of it forcing a huge overhaul. Specifically...

So I have a merged file that started out as a solution to get Tamriel NPCs Revamped to work with NPC New Clothes without them overriding one another based on the load order. Later I added to that merge the Cyrodiil NPC Remodeling Project esps. So I ended up with diverse faces, diverse clothes, and for the ones that were finished personalized NPCs with even more diverse outfits. Add to that Comprehensive Style Collection and Django's Unique Features and they've got eyelashes, whiskers, plus scars and blemishes, etc. It's really neat.

So when I tried the Capes, I came across the same problem I had with TNR and NNC, whichever was later in the load order would take precedence. If it was, say, the capes for citizens last, they'd have capes but with vanilla clothes. If it was my merged esp last, they'd have new clothes but no capes. So, thinking it wouldn't work, I merged the capes into my now quite crowded NPC esp. And it worked! Of course the only problem is that the capes were assigned with the vanilla clothes in mind, so if they're added to NPCs with new clothes, most of the time they don't really match. There's also the issue of NPCs from the Remodeling Project that were already given capes having double capes now that clip into one another. But I was just really impressed I was able to merge it in and the capes had been implemented in such a way they could work with everything else.

Anyway, I think I'll disable the citizen capes since they look weird to me anyway, and that will solve most of the problems I have with capes not matching outfits. But I'm really looking forward to coming across the capes in other ways. Great job!

Anyway, I think I'll disable the citizen capes since they look weird to me anyway, and that will solve most of the problems I have with capes not matching outfits. But I'm really looking forward to coming across the capes in other ways. Great job!

Wondering...is it worth the effort for me to provide an option/component .esp file which capes only certain factions...such as fighters and mages guild members? (as opposed to faction members AND lots of other citizens)

I will check into this; however, I don't recall seeing that in my game...and I believe that during testing I looked at every citizen NPC wearer while in-game. It is always possible I could have missed one.

In any event, I am glad you provided your load order BECAUSE. . . it appears you have 'double installed' some portions of Hemingwey's Capes. :wink_smile:

First, the black cape from OOO is a tail slot cape. The green cape from Hemingwey's Capes is an amulet slot cape.

Second, I went to visit Mercator and his cape set up is working correctly.

Therefore . . .

Make sure that the OOO esm and esp are both bash tagged 'scripts' and 'invent'. Make sure Hemingweys Capes Improved for FCOM.esp is bash tagged 'scripts,' 'invent' and 'stats' (or, if you use the component esps, instead of the full version of Hemingweys Capes, make sure Hemingweys FCOM OOO Cape Patch.esp is tagged 'scripts'). Then insure that when building your bashed patch you have checked all of the above plugins in the Import Scripts sub menu (also make sure you have done the same for Inventory...which I can tell you probably have). This should fix your problem.

Explanation: Some of the NPC capes added by OOO conflict with Hemingwey's NPC capes. The OOO capes are tail slot and have a script attached to them that forces the NPC to equip the OOO cape (because NPCs won't by default equip tail slot items). In order to get around this problem, Hemingwey's Capes replaces the OOO tail cape script with a dummy script which effectively disables the OOO capes. In order for the whole thing to work, you have to import the Hemingwey's Capes dummy script using the bashed patch.

If you follow the above instructions and Mercator still has two capes, then you likely have another .esp late in your load order that is preventing the Hemingwey's Capes dummy script for OOO tail slot capes from attaching to and disabling the OOO tail slot capes.

PS: You mentioned using Hemingweys Capes Improved Merchants.esp.to have them for sale. I did have it at one point but uninstalled it because it spawned 2 cape merchants at every place (a quick FormID Find gave the second merchant as coming from Hemingweys Capes Improved for FCOM.esp so I kept this and removed the merchants.esp :P) Should've realized then that the smaller esps were just individual componnents of the main .esp

Yup. Removed the extraneous esps and double-checked the tagging. Rebuilt the bashed patch using SVN 859 from sourceforge (it seems to have done major trimming of the tagged Import stuff)

And Mercator no longer has a black spot in the middle of his cape :)

PS: On an unrelated note, OOO's Braided Heavy armor when used with your capes creates a great looking "emblem" thing at the upper-back. So cool!

I'm thinking of re-enabling the citizen capes so I can take screenshots of some of the town folk with NPC New Clothes enabled simultaneously. Like maybe one out of every four NPCs ends up with actual matching clothes and cape, and the other three are hilariously mismatched. I saw at least one NPC wearing a cape along with a dress. I can pretend everyone in Cyrodiil has terrible fashion sense!
