Here's how Bethesda looks after fan requests!

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 8:49 pm

At 12th of January, 2011 I posted this request to Skyrim General Discussion forum:
Hi everyone!

Since we don't exactly know what will be implemented in the finished game, we could as well write a list of all things we'd like to see as a feature. Please define the things you want and than write a reason, what you mean, or why that would be a good addition, like such:

I'd like to see these in Skyrim:
-More denominators (gold, silver, copper coins so prices could be more realistic) - Not Done
-Stealthy spells (for our rogue/thief/assassin/ninja character to be able to cast quiet magic) - Done
-Disguises (so you can blend in with the enemy) - Partially Done (A certain quest by Delphine)
-Pets (if you can buy a house, add some life to it) - Done (Can buy dog!)
-Titles of nobility (as you do good deeds, you should be rewarded) - Done (Become Thane)
-Secret places (hidden dungeons and such, without a map marker) - Done
-Chargable spells (so you can add more power to a finishing touch) - Done
-Lots of cookable items (diversity is everything) - Done
-Government offices (so you can roleplay better) - Done
-Mail (for sending invitations/requests to NPCs owning a shop, or offering a service) - Done (courier)
-Trap setting (achieve your dark deeds by setting a trap, that nobody knows you made) - Done

All that have been implemented are marked at the end of the line.
Can you see this? Almost everything I wished for is in the game!
So I send you a big thanks Bethesda for paying attention to your fans and making Skyrim so great!

it says for chargeable spells "add more power to a finishing touch", but you can't actually spell-craft a finishing touch spell, nor are there cast on touch spells anymore, please update-not done

EDIT: also for mail it says for sending mail to NPC's which you cannot do, please update-not done

Interesting, I was rarely posting mostly lurking the last few years, I really only get post happy when I'm playing TES consistently. It's interesting that so much of the fans wishes were incorporated into the game, it also shows they watch the forum which is a bit disheartening. I certainly hope, that with all the unhappy people that post here, they don't think that the fan base is ungrateful. I love Skyrim and hope the Dev's understand most of us playing feel the same way.

You're right in a way. But what I wished for was something like the master level spells of destruction school. So for me it's done. By finishing touch I refered to a weakened opponent hit by a very powerful, and devastating spell. (Which actually at one point can cause them to TURN TO ASH, which I think settles the whole finishing move debate too :) )

And a star rested over the top iPalantir's house, and three kings from the far east came to pay homage. They brought with them 3 gifts, Frankincense, Gold and Murr.

Possible. But this was mid january. They had plenty of time to put them in at that point.

Nope not done one single quest does not implement disguises. Even faction armors are ignored by NPC's (especially DB,Stormcloak and Imperial come to mind)

Dont you think that the inclusion of some things you like were due to "unhappy people" interacting with Bethesda on the forums and other means?

yes they do so. not to mention you can lure enemies into traps cause they don't always look where there going. also setting traps doesent always mean throwing something down to stop enemies or whatever. you could back them up to a corner. or Fus roh dah them off a cliff.

You can set traps as runes (why aren't those traps?), and you can pick up bear traps and drag them where ever you want in the dungeon. That counts as trap dude. :D

You cant create traps besides runes which are worthless and couldn't kill a mudcrab. Many stealth players wont use destro magic.

Charge spells TO ADD POWER not true. For more than twice the mana cost you do 10% extra damage. Also worthless.

Couple of the other ones were off but You get the picture.

One thing this thread proves is that no matter what they do, people will complain it's not exactly what they wanted.

I have to agree. A 'Partially Done' will have to suffice in this case. But still, it's there.

Bethesda have always been flexible with their games. I still think that everything is possible when it comes to upcoming DLCs.

Isn't "within melee range" considered on touch???

It feels like Bethesda have done the bare minimum for some of these.

They know we're grateful. They just have to look at statistics if nothing else. The way Skyrim is praised all year long even before it's release is also an indication of how much people love Bethesda's games. :)

It's fine to disagree on these points, but let's remember the opening post is iPalantir's opinions on iPalantir's requests.
