Here's an idea that's better than tons of patches...

Why doesn't Bethesda just create a modified G.E.C.K. or G.E.C.K. equivalent for the consoles? That way, at least we wouldn't have to wait months for patches and could fix most of our problems, either through console commands or Community Mods. It can't be that hard to adapt to consoles, can it?

Because the creators of the ps3 and the X-Box360 don't want people to be able to hack anything in the system and the very setup of consoles make a G.E.C.K not doable, they aren't just like a computer it just won't work. Sony at least has worked very hard so its files can't be hacked. The last thing you'd want is a 3rd party mod containing a virus that steals your credit card information off of PSN.

They COULD have the debug console enabled, its fairly easy to plug-in a USB keyboard.

A debug console would be fine, maybe an expanded one so as to be a suitable G.E.C.K. substitute. At least that way, I could move the NPCs that have fallen through floors or become trapped in nonexistent voids, as well as reset dialogue options to be able to actually finish my quests...

I don't know. I think we should get a G.E.C.K. software that could be run on a PC and the data transferred to our consoles.

They could indeed activate the debug/developer console for us but I don't think that they will. As for the G.E.C.K. not being doable on consoles...that is just incorrect. I am sorry, I do not say that to be rude or anything but it is in fact incorrect. Borderlands has something similar to the G.E.C.K. (kinda anyways) that is being used even now to alter savefiles on XBOX 360 and PS3. The G.E.C.K. is FAR more powerful but still an attainable goal I think. Also I think you will find that there is a certain console, that this game runs on, that is only separated from a low end PC by a specialized OS and nothing more.

^This. This x 1,000,000,000. That would solve everything. All you would have to do is copy your save data from your PS3 to your PC. Only thing that might be an issue is that on the PS3, to use Mods, I believe you need to modify the game data, NOT the save data. That could be an issue.

I have no idea. On PC you don't alter the game data you create special files that do so until turned off. I am not a programmer but it would seem the same principals could be applied to Console gaming.

One of the reasons I play the PS3 instead of my Xbox or even the PC sometimes is because you don't have the cheating save files issues that are rampant on the Xbox community. Sorry Xboxers (I am one ((not cheater :) ))) I hope they don't put out any kind of construction tool that allowes you to mess with your save files, or the playing of the game.

If they make it an actual part of the game, inside the game, then ok. But a stand alone alteration tool, no. I'd rather they dump the Havok engine and release playable games instead. If Red Dead Redemption can be a flawless game, so to can be Fallout.

I've been playing games with cheats and liars since before there was an internet. One thing I like about the PS3 is the pretty much cheater free multiplayer landscape. Sure there are glitchers and such, but again that's flawed game design usually and hopefully fixed as they come across the exploits. Save game and Game Data corruption is much different and not missed at all by me.

Fallout may not be online/multiplayer, but allowing the player editing of game data or save files will not be limited by that if it's allowed.

A saved game editor is a far cry from The G.E.C.K. The tool known as the G.E.C.K is for editing and creating gamedata, I'm not sure if the G.E.C.K is even capable of editing save files on the PC. I'm fairly certain its or modding only

Who said anything about trophies?

Some of us like to finish our games 100%, and it's a little tough when some quests get bugged and impossible to finish.

Sorry, the GECK isn't something that's currently possible on 360 or PS3.
