Hero to zero? Minutemen where have you gone?

Post » Sun Mar 20, 2016 12:08 am

Hard to believe I'm typing this, but I loved having a near endless supply of Preston Garvey quests at my fingertips. Sure, they were redundant, but they were a great break from the main story or side quests. I also loved them for upping companion affinity and grabbing some xp. After the update, I go talk to him and he's dumb as a box of rocks. He never has quests for me anymore and he keeps wanting to have the same stupid conversation over and over. I wish the devs would have done something in the middle here. I went from unlimited quests to literally none. I would have loved a cool down timer of 48 hours between his quests. Now, maybe it's more apparent that I'm lvl 81 on an Institute play through and 77 on a BoS play through with all comics and bobbles gathered. I need/want something to do besides settlement building and faction radiant quests. I'm not overly confident the DLC is going to scratch my itch!!! Feel free to give me any ideas on what you've been doing to keep yourself involved.

Yep. I got the same glitch. Please fix this in your DLC, Bethesda! :brokencomputer:

Yeah. It svcks I don`t get them anymore. I loved doing them too and never understood why people keep saying they suffer from it when there are numerous ways to avoid those quests without penalty.

Anyway,

Historically, the FO4 Minutemen were wiped out in battle and turned to raiders for most part... except for few that followed Preston.

I love how when they are there everyone complains, and yet when they are limited and toned down people come out and complain...

Bethesda can't win.

Glitch? I consider it a fix. The Minutemen are a lot more tolerable now.

I've NEVER complained about the quests! Only the people that hated the quests and have OCD complained while those who are capable of ignoring quests they dont want to do were perfectly fine. Now they went to the extreme opposite and completely haulted the quests therefore now the only people complaining are the ones who were perfectly fine with having an endless supply of exp quests in a game that has no level cap. This pissed me off royally when I realized Preston was no longer giving me quests and Bethesda actually catered to the whining cry babies. All the other BS glitches and bugs they could have fixed and they go ahead and "fix" the OCD Apocalypse.

Bethesda could WIN if they simply made a dialog option ASKING Preston if he had any other work, rather than automatically giving us quests or completely eradicating them. Such a BS fix... I knew Bethesda would be lazy about it too, that's why I hated hearing people btch and moan about it... I was perfectly fine with having quests at my finger tips and not only that, the minutemen were my favorite faction that fit my character's personality and I loved going around saving settlements and feeling like a minuteman especially after I finished the main story with RR which had I known I would have gone MM all the way. So all that's left for me to do is RR quests because the institute and BoS are destroyed. I wanted to kick back and finally commit to being the MM general, maintaining all the settlements and helping them out when needed.... but that aspect of the game had been completely removed due to whiners.

I also consider a fix , but the way they fixed this is a bit harsh IMO , as we can see make them go to zero can frustrate some , and even I have a little problem with because all of sudden Garvey stopped to give those radiant quests BEFORE I got all settlements in my side so... I guess I gotta kill everyone in Nordhagen Beach ?

Yes, personally I had no complaints. They were easy to avoid or just shelf in your Pip Boy for later. I'm also not a huge bandwagon/really devoted fan type. In fact, I hardly use forums. I just felt compelled to see if anyone shared my sentiments, so I made this post and account. What are some suggestions you have for keeping yourself occupied in-game besides radiant quests, or another play through? On my BoS play through I'm just exterminating and looking for any hidden gems I missed. On my Institute play through, I'm bored out of my mind. There's literally nothing to do.

I've just started a new game, so I will have to wait and see if this is true, but it sounds good to me. I do wish there were quest from the other settlers of Sanctuary, the remaining Minutemen from Concord.

MM never had any radiant quests (radiants = never ending repeating ones - so long quest target excists and you need to be on friendly term). MM "Elvis" Preston and radio/guy gave out reaping misc quests until you have gathered enough settlements/settlers. To be able to finish something.... you have to do something first. This is G D forum so .... wiki tell more.

Cheers,

Start a new game and finish with the Minutemen .

Spoiler
If you destroy the Institute with the Minutemen there is a way to keep Minutemen , BOS and Railroad in peace , I can take escort quests from BOS and others from Railroad members.

After taking the Castle I use Freedom Radio exclusively for quests, I completely go over Preston's head. It's way better that way, too, since eventually the game stops asking you to turn in quests to Preston.

I have received no more from Preston, but now get same random quests from settlers. But you have to approach near them to get them. No pop-ups outside of attacks occur.
