We are walking about the turned based chess-like Heroes of Might & Magic, yes?

Hell yeah, I played the hell out of that game several summers ago, and spent considerable amount of time in the map editor. I hope that will be included as well.

did somebody say Might & Magic?! *begins foaming at the mouth*

Big fan of the franchise (at least, back when the Franchise was owned by 3DO and NWC... Ubisoft through out all the amazing lore and turned it into yet another generic fantasy setting.. the Ancients, the Kreegan, the Seeding of the Worlds, the Elemental Plains, all of it never existed as far as Ubisoft is concerned), with it having some of my favorite games of all time..

when it comes Specifically to the Heroes half of the Franchise, I personally liked HoMM2 alot as far as Story goes (even though alot of people said it had a weak story), but HoMM3 was the peak in both story and gameplay as far as the Heroes Side goes..

will this HD version Include the Expansions (Armageddons blade and Shadow of Death)?

Still, to me it seems like a cash grab to be honest.. the entire franchise has been dropping in Popularity faster than a Brick off a roof ever since they got ahold of it.. they tried to get the fanbase back with M&MX, but it didn't work so they went "lets just take one of the Most popular games from when 3DO ran things, and re-release it!"

does Ubisoft really wanna get Popularity back for the franchise? DROP ASHAN!
Seriously, Drop Ashan along with everything that happened since they got a hold of it and label it as non-canon.. then, take us back to Axeoth, or VARN-4, or even Enroth (well before Enroth Blew up that is.. damn Armageddon's Blade, Enroth was by far the most interesting of the worlds).. drop the Generic-Fantasy writing they have given the Series, bring us back the lore, the games always mentioning another (because in all honesty, the way they did tha (at least for Enroth) really made you feel as if the world was both Huge and alive)..

so much Potential Still existed with the Ancients, the Kreegans, the Elementals, The Guardians, all the worlds and Ancients colonized we likely never saw.. but Ubisoft through it all out the Window to make one of the most Generic settings I had seen in years..

Just so long as they don't mess with anything >< The game is near perfect as it is(I still regularly(as in, I Have a game going right now) play HOMM3) and if they mess around with anything trying to "Balance it" they will just end up messing it up/ruining it. Updated graphics only please.

My favourite childhood game that I still sometimes play with my friends and girlfriend. I will definitely check it out :D
I also count that they will only update the graphics.

This is pretty much my reaction!

I found out about HoMM when I found one of the Chronicle games in the flea market, I would spend hours every single day playing it, then I got my hands on 3!

While yes it does feel like a cash grab, when you think about it, every single thing is a cash grab! :P

Ubisoft has done... interesting things with the HoMM/M&M series that are rather disappointing, although HoMM 5 was actually pretty fun, the story was just bad.

I personally can't wait for this. :)

Conflux fan are you? More of a Rampart man myself

yeah, the HoMM games are awesome games.. if you haven't tried the RPG half of the franchise, you should grab 6-8 over from GoG.. you won't be disappointed!

Is there any other kind?

I'm excited for this HD version of Heroes 3, Heroes 3 is probably my favourite out of the ones I've played. I enjoyed Heroes IV and V though, I know some people don't like heroes V but I liked it better than IV, never tried IV. The one I've played the most is probably Heroes V, with the Tribes of the East expansion, cause if there ain't no orcs it ain't right, kinda not really.

HoMM3 remains visually beautiful to this day (still surpassing HoMM 4, 5, and 6, IMO), so I'm not seeing a huge appeal to any purely graphical updates. Also, [censored] Ubisoft.

Hmm, if it's not going to include the expansions, that rather svcks, they added so much to the game, and not just Conflux, but a bunch of other rare monsters that can show up on any map, including the 4 Ultra dragons(Faerie, Rust, Crystal, Azure), any 1 of which could be a gamebreaker for a map if you got lucky and had a recruitment spot near your primary castle. Nothing like rampaging around the map with 5 of any of those dragons in your army early-mid game.

Me and a buddy have been doing customized maps lately, trying to make the game harder by putting the enemies on teams, maxing out the difficulty, making the monsters as strong as can be. It's a helluva lot of fun.

Wait, why wouldn't they include the expansions?

I might pick it up, been a long time since I played HoMM 3 at this point. Wasted many an hour on that game.

Back in the day, I played II a LOT. Hell, until the CD became unusable, I played it alot. And then I used a backup CD which was a burned copy of the original. It didn't last that long being in my CD-ROM for weeks at a time. I played a bit of III, but never owned it.

Would we be able to mod this through Steam?

Apparently when they acquired the resources from NWC's archives, the usable source code from vanilla Heroes III was all that they could find. Somehow, considering NWC thought it was a good idea to blow up Enroth and completely deviate from the masterpiece that was III, I'm not surprised.

That said, I really hope they'll just try and remake at least some of the stuff.

I fear this series. It stole much of my life back in the late '90s. I did see a lot of nice sunrises, though, before heading to work with no sleep.
