[REL]Hexagonica V0.1

Post » Tue Mar 09, 2010 11:23 am

so um what is this? it looks intriguing but i'm a little confused ?? :confused:

I'll try to explain.

I was very ill during the course of several days, needing to do something I was sitting in my sofa with tea and candy while trying to figure something to do... I fired up the CS and started working on something akin to a story I wrote a year ago, however it quickly took it's own shape, which means it's only very loosely based on that story.

In many ways it's my first real mod. Hexagonica as a written work, the one I wrote a year ago was a place for any wicked idea and theory; this is the exact same thing. A manifestation of my imagination which has taken such a root that it is no longer only growing wild inside of my head, it's rather taking a very profound shape.

My aim is to eventually have a very enjoyable world that I can return to and work with whenever I wish; something that is complete enough for people to play and even for others to expand upon.

It's not lore correct(To the ES lore) by any means(But it is to it's own lore), I'm also taking a lot of liberties with using meshes so there's a great many things you'd have to bear with a as a player and user.

Finally I want to make something fun and different from what has been commonly done so far with quests and story in MW.

Many bold goals, but I don't really think much of them, I just keep working on the tiny bits and pieces, getting the areas done is top priority (getting quite close). And then make the house interiors. Then I will start making the main-quest for real.

Right now this 0.2 version is just a bit of fun. Some exploring and some trying to figure out how the story will shape around this world of Hexagonica.

(Wow sry for such a long ego answer)

;)

Cheers

Cool, makes me think of Bioshock.

WIN! That's what I was going for.

Wow, so far people have used every single word I've had in my mind when designing o_O Next time I will think of words as "Awesome" & "Genius" Haha! J/K The Leviathan Dominion will be the biggest challenge I have designed so far. Having water reclaiming the are. I'm probably going to have to make some mesh modifications with my preferred 3d program to make it exactly as I want it.

Yes this is a new world. However it is made only in interiors so you will not have any landscape conflicts. Try it out =) Give me some feedback and I'll keep on having fun making it =)

So what are you doing to it now. Like are you making the mainquest or just expanding it.

To answer your query:
Right now my top priority is finishing that which I need for the mainquest. The mainquest I recon, if I ever get to a satisfactory level will only be a conclusion of a longer series. The documented Hexagonica world I have is huge but everything is not suited for a game, i'm just figuring out what is and making a story to go along with that instead of what I wrote a year ago.

I will keep on updating the landscape with new areas, and perhaps adding some sidequests/fixes and some more scripts. Then I will move on to do the Mainquest.

Some mindless ramblings:
------------------------
As I said earlier in the thread I have a loose plan that a companion will be invaluable if you want to really experience the entire glory of the Mainquest. I hope to incorporate situations that will put companionship to a new level o_O Very bold words haha.

Also I have an idea in my head right now about an influence system that will grow with you, eventually in the Mainquest you will be such an influential character that some people in the world downright hate you and want you dead and will stop at nothing, burn cities, infiltrate you, poison your potion. Of course some people will adore you, it should all depend on the side-quests; however these side-quests would add a "dynamic" touch to the main quest, changing some things.

Both are just concept ideas. Something I want, but I can live without it.

Gah

I fixed the bug with my first, very simple quest. I think I will be able to do quite a good Mainquest with what I know now. Just to finish up the areas and then I can really start working. (Rolls up sleeves).

I was just wondering (I know, I shouldn't think so much) where did you get the name? The world doesn't exactly look like a hexagon to me.

Good luck on the quests.

There's a very good reason for the name my friend.

Hexagonica is a material name, representing six prime planes, maestros and dreamers commonly used the term "Hexagonica" for calculations. One day the concept was so widespread that it became commonly used.

People first thought that it was only six planes in total however this has been proven to be obsolete information, the actual number of planes is a highly speculated topic, and unknown.

It's in-game lore.
The idea behind this project is loosely based on a short story I wrote a year ago. The name Hexagonica was chosen as most of my things are chosen, if you can't find much about it on the internet, then I have succeeded with making a quite unique name. That image have nothing to do with this project or the story, I also found that quite some time ago.

Taroustheslayer:
No this is not really lore correct according to MW lore, it is an offshoot of a story I wrote, so according to it's own lore, it is lore correct o_O

Update can be found in first post for download.

This update adds:
*2 New almost completed areas (Exterior as interior).
*1 Beta area.
*All three areas does not connect properly to the world yet, but there are maelstroms that will take you to them.
*Beginning of one side-quest, it might throw an error because I haven't been able to fix the end of it.
*Some various fixes (Among others, the creature error should be fixed now).

Here are some screen-shots:

Waterborn(again, but different, you've seen normal, fire but not the ice version; this is highly main-quest related).

Actually... My Laptop can't handle MGE or ENBseries, this is very Vanilla, except texture re-placers.

I'm using Low-Fat Morowind as base, Plangkeye's Telvanni textures & Vality's Ice Caverns enhanced. Nothing more really. My humble mod-list:
GameFile0=Beryl's_Head_Replacer_v1.0.esm
GameFile1=Bloodmoon.esm
GameFile2=Morrowind Patch v1.6.4.esm
GameFile3=Morrowind.esm
GameFile4=Texture Fix 1.8.esm
GameFile5=Tribunal.esm
GameFile6=Better Bodies.esp
GameFile7=Better Clothes_v1.1_nac.esp
GameFile8=BetterClothes_Patch.esp
GameFile9=Clean Ultimate Morrowind Anti-Mod.esp
GameFile10=DM_DB Armor Replacer.esp
GameFile11=DN_1st_Person_Armor.esp
GameFile12=DN_1st_Person_bodies.esp
GameFile13=Immersive Chargen.esp

That's funny I can't get the same shot and I don't use anything. Don't you have an Ini lighting change? If so cough it up or face death.

Weird since the line "UseQuadratic=0" means not to use the settings at all o_O I'm using linear because quadratic was to heavy on cpu.

:embarrass: Now that makes sense. Thanks. Do you know what Quadratic lighting does?

From my knowledge it is a more realistic lighting equation. However with it's default values it will introduce some lighting bugs and is as I said, a bit slower. It is possible to use both, if you do you avoid some of the bugs, it looks best but is the most CPU intensive.

That's what I figure.

---

So, back to the main topic, I'm collecting resources for a heap of things, the Leviathan Domain will be my biggest challenge yet in world building, it requires precision and real talent (or so I would say). And with that being said, it will take a while before I get another release out there. In that release I also hope to at least introduce the main-quest.

Anybody knows how I can easily confirm which Idles in animation is which movements of creatures? the Leviathan Domain has a lot of fake water, and to complete that illusion, i have fished and other creatures (flying) around outside, not swimming o_O However there are a bunch of idles that just look plainly wrong for swimming, any ways to check this without going in-game?

I also needs some help with a mesh that needs some Nifskope care. The case is the following: I started editing some meshes to make holes in them for the Leviathan Domain, however on export they lost the reflectiveness of the windows, while understandable it is really annoying because so far, no matter if I copy the entire branch over to that NiTriShape of the model it still doesn't get the reflection o_O If anyone is willing to look at it, I can send the two meshes, the edited and the original so whoever picks it up can make an educated guess and perhaps teach me how to fix it myself.

Cheers
