[REL]Hexagonica V0.1

Post » Tue Mar 09, 2010 1:21 pm

Anybody knows how I can easily confirm which Idles in animation is which movements of creatures? the Leviathan Domain has a lot of fake water, and to complete that illusion, i have fished and other creatures (flying) around outside, not swimming o_O However there are a bunch of idles that just look plainly wrong for swimming, any ways to check this without going in-game?

I also needs some help with a mesh that needs some Nifskope care. The case is the following: I started editing some meshes to make holes in them for the Leviathan Domain, however on export they lost the reflectiveness of the windows, while understandable it is really annoying because so far, no matter if I copy the entire branch over to that NiTriShape of the model it still doesn't get the reflection o_O If anyone is willing to look at it, I can send the two meshes, the edited and the original so whoever picks it up can make an educated guess and perhaps teach me how to fix it myself.

Cheers

I don't know about fish but,

Hmm..

Well, they are only "flying" but is supposed to look like they are swimming so that I can place them wherever I want, inside of this huge place, not only in the real water made by the engine. I have some more ideas as well on how to add even more aquatic underwater feeling outside the windows of the interior =)

I think you can just change the movement to flying, I once saw a mod that changed a bunch of Winged Twilight's by setting movement to flying.

:woot: water! (imagine cool underwater emoticon here)

Yes, the Order of the Invisibles (the lich mod) has flying fish done by just swapping the movement types over.

With the fish issues being fixed I went on to work on the Leviathan domain, it's going slowly, proving to be the most time consuming area I've tried to create... I havn't been able to catch the feel I want... yet, Bioshock ish yes but I'm not even close, that's how I feel.

So instead of getting stuck with that too long I will sit down with the CS some tonight. I have a third and final idea for waterborn that I have to implement. I might be stretching it, but I love my variations of that area, but I'm not making variations without a reason, here's an interesting piece about it:

*There will be one way to save Waterborn from an ill fate.
*There will be three ways for it to fall.
*There might be a companion in the quest-line for Waterborn

Didn't anybody catch the last puzzle? There's lore to be had you know ;P

lore time, this one is a freebie =)

---

Nature of the planes:

Scholars theorize that there is a negative material and a positive material plane. Neutral material planes, including but not limited to Hell-plane, Elysium, Demonic Heavens & the Frozen time have been know to slip into the material status of other planes. Further research provide knowledge that the negative and positive are divided into elemental categories, the negative are destructive or degenerative in nature, these include darkness, fire, cold while the positive are earth, water, wind and light. There are many more uncharted and unexplored categories but most fall into the non-material such as ethereal, mind and dream.

*The Mountain of minds?
*The Omniflower?
*The Nevisoul?

Also, V0.2 is around the corner.

I was going to try out this mod, but since you mentioned a v.2 coming soon, I think I will wait. As long as soon doesn't mean 'by December' :) It seems like this mod had A LOT of thought put into it. I love that you are making lore for the whole thing.

Regarding the vote: I'd like to put my vote on the Omniflower.

Actually I'm mostly adapting lore that I've already written into a form which works better for a game. If I give it some time I hope v0.2 will be out before i leave for the US which is by next Thursday; One difference will be how you access some areas, there mights be fewer areas you can actually easily reach in V0.2 due to the implementation of some very primitive quest.

Finally, thank you for the kind words =)

Chime out.

Yes, even If I have become a bit lazy. I knew it was a good idea to get this out the door before I would go lazy o_O I will have to look for inspiration. However I still plan to get a V0.2 before Thursday.

How can I reorder different dialogs? I mistakenly put a lower priority dialog higher up. Hence it will appear instead of the most important one.

So far, one vote for Omniflower & the other to Nevisoul. Any more votes? Maybe make next vote the deciding one o_O =)

The Mountain of minds.

Haha, not what I expected. I wasn't clearly thinking. Oh well, for catching me off guard. I'll give the lore for all three, just a bother to keep it secret. Mind you some things in the following lore may change:

[Mountain of minds]
It's metaphysical shape is the embodiment of every thought, piling up and becoming massive mountains. It's very much like a public library, however only scholars with correct meditation & the right mindset can enter. It takes somebody with a high level of concentration to actually siphon information from the mountains themselves, this is a rare skill & the technique to learn is shrouded in mystery.

[Omniflower]
The very pattern that binds the otherwise chaotic planes of Hexagonica together. The Omniflower is represented visually as an antispin three flower pattern (This is the closest reference I could find: http://i43.tinypic.com/10ymams.jpg And before you ask, yes, that's me behind the fire ). The different metaphysical locations are attached to the lines drawn by this shape.

[Nevisoul]
The meaning of the "Nevi" is to always be in movement. Always going from one thing to another. Literally it means "Spinning soul", A soul at unrest. Nevisoul functions as the portal to reality; It is the very reason dreams can turn into reality & it is through Nevisoul that dreamers gather their power.

Haha, yes, but it will save the future! Very epic. =)

Updated first post so that all currently open and discovered lore can be found there.

There's two puzzled yet unsolved, if you look at some posts you'll spot them, one simple, one a bit more difficult. Same procedure, look at the text. It's the same trick as with the first puzzle on the thread. They will reveal some more lore.

Happy hunting while I work some more on it =)

Trinity of nothing? Not sure if it's relevant but I liked http://www.sciforums.com/Do-Hindus-really-believe-in-more-than-one-god-t-61894.html:
there are INFINITE GODS...
these gods are all parts of ONE GOD..
and this one god is so much beyond understanding that it can only be nothing...
so you can also say that there is NO GOD (everything is illusion/nothing)

all these 3 are true.

the real trinity of nothing: nothing, infinity and one

(0/infinity=1)

Haha, nice connection to hinduism there. I didn't know that it existed! Yay for this becoming deeper by itself!

Here's your reward(This is where I started writing Hexagonica, the very first text I wrote):

[Trinity of Nothing]
Prologue:

The wind of voices, the speaker of hearts and the follower of pathless prose. A trinity force bent on imagining the fates of Hexagonica.
The wind of voices also known as the perfect democracy. It speaks and shapes, re imagining the laws of cosmos accordingly to the voices of every being.
The soul of love, keeper and forger of tender and sweet bonds. He who eternally binds people to one and another in the order of Chaos, Speaker of hearts.
The smith of matter, follower of pathless prose. A poet of unpredictable patterns. Creator of worlds.

A tint of emptiness shed it's poison on the last voices, the last words and the last prose and so it did, until a great implode. At the end; there was nothing. Not even a fragment of singularity.

Then "Nothing" realized that it could not exist. For it's own existence was truly paradox. A faulty one at that because here it was; Nothing. For countless of eons Nothing waited for something to happen and it did.

-Rock, paper, scissors anyone?
It's own voice, emitting into the abyss.

-I must be crazy...

-No you are not.
Came the reply.

-You have become a trinity, you've split before, don't you remember?

-Makes sense. I remember how I sought to become whole in order to die the final death.

-I told you, there is no final death for us. We are that which makes up nothing.

-Will this loop continue forever?

-It never begun, so it will always be. This is the second time in a row you split yourself. We were only two last time. And before that we were always one. What happened?

-I can't remember.

-Blast it, your only endlessly old and already senile.

-Shut it, the two of you. Let's re-imagine what happened and this time around we'll make it right.

I'll do my best to upload a new version by tonight (before the sun hit my windows).

This version will include:
*a re-textured maelstrom
*Some new areas (one or two) also, improved ways to get to some areas.
*One functioning quest, no reward o_O
*One or two new creatures (Courtesy of Demon Xen)
*Slightly edited Leviathan Domain, nothing new really. I'm deep in thought about this area of the game.
*Script fix for the Waves of Matter (Thank you Evil Eye for noticing, will fix it finally).
*Maybe another NPC with some lore connection and perhaps the very opening of a quest.
*Other changes I haven't thought about.

The game developer TreyArch has a good example of that symbol. I didn't post a pic cause I'm not sure Bethesda would like that, so just google it.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/xzv0r1

Some bad news. (Not quite tho).

The bad news is I'm kind of out of time and I was caught up with talking to people about the Animation project, and how how to tackle it etc, I kind of started that and a lot of people got involved really fast so I feel I have to be there for people to get things together, and keep the ball rolling for all of us.

Hopefully, once that feature is done it can be put to good use in Hexagonica so it's not all that bad news!

I'm uploading the latest files anyhow, it's sloppy, and it's revealing a few stuff I didn't intend to reveal at all or make it at least a bit of a game to reveal, nothing like that here, it's just more space to explore...

I will update the credits when I get home. I also need to ask for some permissions. Right now there might be some edgy stuff in there, only meant for testing and deciding if I need it and if I should ask for permission. Haven't had the time yet, for some stuff. So if anyone feels they got left out, I'm sorry, I will redeem that! Or for all that matters, If I used something I didn't really have permission to use. I hope I've been cautious enough not to get into this situation =)

This mod' is so wierd. But it's great eyecandy! Beautiful enviroments.

I noticed a problem, though. I'm assuming that you wanted us to actually fight Enkidu and the glowy-purple-armor-guy in the Waves of Matter? Well, I can't. As soon as the purple glowy guy saw me, he prompty ran right off his platform and into the abyss! Enkidu followed suite after I hit him with a fireball. Morrowind's AI just wasn't intended to handle platforming areas.

Weird is definitely is a compliment, thanks =). What you say means you missed the quest you get from the zombiefied "John Barxley" The dark entity is just another obstacle to save Enkidu for him.

There's many things I will need to do before that quest is functioning completely, thanks for the problem. Will fix when I get home =)
