Hey, Bethesda, more secret passages and such :)

Post » Mon Feb 28, 2011 9:57 pm

One of my favorite things in Oblivion was the secret passages and hallways leading to secret areas in many of the castles and stuff, I loved those. I'd love to see more of them implemented, even secret levers in houses hiding away a chest of valuables or something! :hubbahubba:

I agree. I even like the smaller ones like the entrance to the Knights of the Nine priory's basemant, hidden underwater ruin entrances, and that secret room in Benirus Manor. My absolute favorite secret passage is the one in Black Rock Caverns, though. That was great.

I did enjoy having that secret lair in the Bavil House.
I also enjoy secret passages in and out of cities.- thieves and assassins and escaping dragons.

Ancient Dwemer cities and abandoned mines seem ripe with many of these ideas.

as long as they don't show up on the automap before I find them, I am happy.

I immediately thought of the passage under Jearl's house in Bruma. :D

I hope the automap doesn't reveal through walls our outside what's seen on the screen either :) Make the secret passages a surprise.

But traps and secret doors make Dungeon Exploration fun

I liked the secret passages in Oblivion.

A cool dungeon would be if you were just in a normal every day house then pull a book back out of a shelf like they do in movies sometimes then bam huge, dark ancient passage way opens up leading down under the ground.. :D

Under every Farmhouse in Daggerfall was a sprawling dungeon that took at least a week (in-game) to explore :)

I hope that sort of stuff comes back too.

Yeah, no compass pointing to said secrets!
I wrote a thread like this sooooo long ago, before Oblivion came out. I want things like waterfall caves, high up on the mountain side, with a hidden grove in the cave. Light trickling down from cracks in the rocky ceiling, illuminating a tombstone with ancient runes on them. These markings are strangely familiar to you . . . Dragon Shouts! Thunder Cats Hooooooooooooooooooo!

I loved that passage  Oh and more places like ummmm.... Hackdirt and the hidden place underneath it ripe with oddities!

I wanna see a normal looking town/city that is actually sitting on top of a hidden tribe of people or something.

I want the Mines of Moria experience... complete with a creature equivalent to a Balrog. Honestly, my mind is just on a natural high thinking about that. I slip away into the dark, dank mines long ago abandoned by the Dwarves to escape a dragon and come out of the other side of the mountain, but discover something else lurking in the depths... an aberration to all life with power over the darkness and the glory of invincibility.

Also more little things like a tucked away rope in a cave that when pulled moves a boulder or something revealing even more exploration capabilities.

Glorious idea; and secret passages should be REALLY SECRET they should not show up on your map or be triggered by simple things.

Maybe there are ones that are so secret, you don't know they exist.

More often than not, castles in real life were designed to be so labyrinthine that the would-be thief could get lost wandering their halls for days without a guide. Or maybe that's just how it worked out in Daggerfall. Irrespective, I really am hoping to see some impressive fortresses and castles in Skyrim, ones with lots of hiding places and secret passageways.

I love secret passages, secrets in general.... Id love Night Vision to have a role... Like see certain clues to what might be a secret passage... Kinda like how Batman did his Vision with the Riddler.

Secret passages would be great but I don't think Bethesda has the time to make a bunch of secret stuff
