Hey Crytek, Crysis 2 is a HUGE sucess! NOT!

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 8:43 am

Yup, I just had a little browse of the Crysis 2 Stats page and wow.

At the time of writing this, 523 players are actively playing on multiplayer.

Is this the kind of "Success" Crytek wanted? I doubt it.

I'd hardly call 523 players out of many thousands playing multiplayer a mere 2 months or so after release a "Successful Game" would you?

For all those wondering where I am getting these live stats from.

Multiplayer in its self does not generate income. A large player base and dlc's do. However the multiplayer had so many issues to begin with that the dlc's didn't do that well. I would like to see an expansion that includes the dlc maps and couple more, new single player campaign and a new weapon or two. its a shame that they didn't use any of the crysis wars maps, I felt that crysis wars had more map content.

I can't agree on the Crysis Wars front as Cry2 was my first ( and last ) Crysis game I will buy from Crytek, I just find it appalling that so soon after release, that so many people are leaving and moving on as if Crysis 2 just didn't happen.

I'm not fond of the whole cash cow idea of releasing a game with chunks ripped out in order to sell on as DLC, Free DLC is what makes games last, we all know this ( just look at BFBC2, 7 VIP map packs for PC versions and all were free ) and it's still selling well even now.

*le sigh*

The MP part of the game is a hacker haven.

First impressions are very important, it's what people remember the most. The game was poorly implemented. They dropped the ball in trying to appeal to a larger audiance, they could have done it without neglecting PC.

I feel they rushed the game because of the leaked version that was released. Some people may have been too impatient and just downloaded the free version illegaly and this could have made Crytek push for a quicker release without ironing everything out. Or maybe I'm wrong and they just flat out half assed it.

The game is good in it's current state imo. When I say that I mean I love the single player campagin with the new graphics. I love the multiplayer, to me it's the most fun I can have right now, between that and bad company 2.

There are problems though that CAN'T be ignored. If they are they may very well lose what little player base they have left in multiplayer. Cheaters, glitches, crashes, disconnections, bugs, poor performance, the list could go on. The game as a whole is not optimized very well right now and it could be that Crytek wants to simply have a game that people can say "will it run Crysis 2?" but if that is true it's definately the wrong approach to have when designing a game with competitive multiplayer on the line of call of duty.. not everyone can afford machines with 3 graphics cards or even 2. Some people can't even afford one super powered one. Optimize the game better.

There NEEDS to be a new patch addressing some of these issues, all of them really. If they choose to neglect it I don't think there'll be much of a future for Crysis 3. Which will upset me greatly :(

I really liked the single player a lot! I usually only purchase games for the multiplayer aspect of it and have discovered the MP portion on the other hand is not so good. The ranking system due to the blatant cheating is discouraging BIG time and has made me not even want to play it anymore. To all of you who deny or claim that you're so skilled and that's it's because I just svck, well, you're a liar. I've played for many years and it's so obviously by the way I'm dying most of the time. I'm not stupid nor do I need to elaborate on all the scenarios. The MP part of the game is hacker haven.

You haven't yet provided a video of whats happening to you. I'd like to see the actual game play, so I can actually tell whether what you are saying its legit or not. I don't deny there are hackers about but its far less common than at the beginning. You have provided a video of someone using a hack from youtube, but not any of your own game play.

Cloak is not invisibility, a lot of new players make this mistake. I've been playing FPS since Castle Wofenstien 3D and helping admin since UT. The greatest flaw of the multiplayer is the lack of admin spectate mode.

If there was a patch to improve server stability and remove ion cannon lag it would be super win.

I fully agree. While hacking was a major problem it has definately died down since release. People still hack sure, but there a lot of players out there who are just plain good and know what they are doing and are being unfairly kicked because of it.
