Hey! new study,

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 4:27 am

EDIT: oh hey, it hasnt happened yet. but lets all not turn this into a church and fat people roast. this is actually more about the study rather than church and fat people. no one has been excessive yet but I thought maybe I should put this in for good measure.

so heres a link.

http://healthland.time.com/2011/03/24/why-going-to-church-can-make-you-fat/

So apparently going to church makes you more likly to become overwieght. the main reason cited is that alot of churches have large buffet style meals at meetings. I am not a religous person but I think this is stupid. if they are saying the buffets at church is the reason church is making people fat... maybe its not church but the buffet. so maybe the study you be resubmitted as, eating buffets makes you fat. instead of just the regular title "why church will make you fat"

It has been making people fat for ages. Just look at Friar Tuck.

All I see is correlation being treated as causation. Also, too many weasel words.

Nothing but to make non-church goers feel good about themselves in a silly study that doesn't really mean poop.

This.

"Would you like to attend our Sunday service?"

"No thank you, I'm trying to lose weight." rather than "HERETIC!!!! The Emperor is GOD!!!!"

What if your church encourages fasting?

I think that might actually be why they have buffets... hold I am about to make sense... after the fasting is done to make up for the beings hungries.
What I don't like about this study is saying implying is that just being at church makes you more likely to be fat, even if you don't take part in any eating there and thats nonsensical.

lol buffets at church, here we're only given a small slice of bread which I don't know the name in english. Anyway that's a good reason to go to church indeed.

I went to church once with my step dad, it wasn't just the normal service. some places like to throw potlucks and things to get more people to show up. not a bad way to get a free meal if you ask me... or is that frowned upon?

That sounds like that "bread makes people kill others" statement you'll find whenever someone brings up how violent media kill people.
