Hey there! After playing Skyrim, I really felt like playing

Hey! I've been playing Skyrim for 100+ hours, loving it's grand views and amazing atmosphere. However, it really made me want to play Morrowind again. Why? Well, becaused I never finished Morrowind for many reasons, the major being that I never liked the combat too much and at times it was utterly confusing (sometimes I need big pointy arrows :P). It's a bit dated too, but not so bad that it can't be played.

The problem is, there are some things I'd like to do in Morrowind to make sure I play through it all this time:

1. Mod it so that it looks better and plays better + fixing bugs and things.

I saw a Morrowind 2011 mod at some point that really improved the looks of the game. Are there any "remaster" mods like it that really give the entire world an improved look? Any "must have" mods for playing?

2. Help in creating a character that wont be a pain in the ass to play.

I've really wanted to do a stealthbased character supported by illusion (maybe some alteration for levitation) and speechcraft + mercantile so I can see more parts of the game instead of just bashing myself through everything. The problem is, I'd also like to do the quests for House Telvanni because I always felt they were one of the memorable factions from Morrowind. House Hlaalu would probably fit my character more, but I don't find the same appeal- are the quests and things fun in House Hlaalu, or is all the good parts gathered in Telvanni? Would I have to be a mage with more than just illusion to rise in the ranks there?

How good is marksman to have for example? And how important is speed, endurance? I was thinking of an Imperial female with a lot of the stealthbased stuff as Major skills, but she's got low speed and agility- I thought I'd use the agility sign to compensate a bit for example, would this be wise? I also had a Dunmer in mind since they are well rounded and have high disposition already since it's in Morrowind and all, but they don't appeal to me quite as much!

Are short blades worth it? I've always liked longswords and axes, but at the same time I like the idea of having all the abilities fit with skills and attributes and stuff. It's the minmaxer within me fighting against the more fluffy part :P

Could someone perhaps point me in the right direction? :)

Short blades is really good actually. Especially if you do the Morag Tong quests.
