Hey, were too lazy to add custom icons!

Ok, this bothers me. What were you thinking? Oh hey let's add a keyhole icon to EVERY building forcing the player to hover like a maniac in order to locate what hes after!

GREAT JOB!

FOR THE STUPID PEOPLE: No I don't mean a different icon for every house, I mean a different icons for different types of houses, taverns/shops etc..

God forbid you have to use such a huge amount of effort to locate something.

OP still has a valid point.

The entire point of having icons is to make things easier to distinguish from other icons without having to read something - how is that possible when every single icon is exactly the same?

It'd be enough if inns and different types of shops had their own symbol.

Which is why there are keyhole icons where the doors are, duh... you know, instead of nothing. This is the most petty complaint.

Perhaps you should read my post again...

If I have to read, what was the point of having icons?

Once again, the only reason to use icons is because icons are visually distinct, and faster to identify than text. These icons are NOT visually distinct, you have to manually cursor over all of them to figure out what any of them mean, which actually makes it WORSE than an all-text menu.

That is a clear and obvious failure of interface design from a company that has failed in its interface in virtually every way in this release.

Lol, just don't reply, you obviously don't have a clue about usability.

Sigh, obviously the different types of houses would be categorized..

Regular house
Tavern
Shop
Spell shop
etc..

It's not much to ask for, I don't like this constant hover fest.

It's not that hard to have a different icon for each different place, like a separate one for shops, homes, inns, and temples.

An all text menu would look cluttered, the icons are point of interest, mouse over what point suites you(read to see what it is) and travel to the point if interest.

I find your post to be immature and it smacks of entitlement. You have been given a multimillion dollar epic game that puts most games to shame especially in 'bang for buck' in terms of content.... yet decide to complain about something so minor and small it is, quite frankly... pathetic.

Actually, most games would at least distinguish things like general shops, craftsman, inns, taverns, guild halls, and residential homes.
You don't need a different icon for every building, that would just be stupid. But it's common practice to have different icons for different types of buildings.

Just like the UI complaint, people so lazy to put forth even a minimal amount of effort so instead they complain about the most petty of details.

Haha, the stupidity here.. one icon to every building is freaking stupid , the different types of houses needs to be distinct, please tell me any other recent game that doesen't distinct the different types of houses on their map. This is clearly something that betshda forgot to do or looked over.

I wasn't aware this was a problem. I always find things on the map in a matter of seconds sweeping the cursor across all the symbols.
Usually I already know where things are except 1 or 2 places anyway.

Icon

The icon tells me where the location is. That's all I need.

Reading has never been a weakness of mine, so hovering over to see "shop" or "house" is a total non factor.

Stop being a fanb0y , it's just silly. The game has clearly been rushed on some parts, I still like it but it's not complete by far.

This would only solve half of the problem. You would still have to hover around to find particular houses or shops if the icon type is the same.

As to why they didn't do that...it's called cost/time vs. benefit anolysis. Beth made the right choice now quit crying over something that has zero effect on gameplay or really anything other than your lazy ass.

People actually use the local map, instead of I don't know, looking at the highly detailed signposts? Because you know, they aren't there for decoration. Sounds like you're the one that is lazy.

It's a question about usability, I don't want to run around in a city looking for signs nor hover like a maniac, let's remove the local map altogether and you can have your search fest. And yet again, please redirect me to any RPG game that doesen't have distinct icons in towns, betsheda has clearly missed this.
