Hiding Bodies

Post » Tue Oct 04, 2011 2:00 pm

So in oblivion you could pick objects and move them around, but this didn't work very well, while keeping the grab button pushed and moved with the body, the grip would go off randomly and it would take ages to hide a body in Oblivion. I wish that in Skyrim they implement the 'picking up objects' system better so you can hide bodies so the guards won't be alerted. Like in Metal Gear Solid or Deus Ex : Human Revolution, it only makes sense.

This is true. It would be nicer if you could either HOLD the "grab" button to grab something, or TAP it, and it would just "grab" it until you let go ...

Something I miss -greatly- from Morrowind is the 'DISPOSE OF CORPSE' function which the dead bodies had.

nope :vaultboy:
i like the system from obliv, but just improve upon that by making it easier to keep hold of things, like the tap function from fo3
dont want to shoulder a body every time i use the 'pick up' command on it
sometimes all i want to move is an arm or a leg to put them in an awkwardly sixual position XD

I tend to agree, it's a feature that I think would help improve many aspects of gameplay. Having an item placing function similar to that of Morrowind would be nice also, perhaps with more control of angle and the direction each object is facing too.

I would love to see something like this in skyrim would add a another level of complexity to stealth builds, however i don't see this happening. Hopeful for it to be in tes 6?

in my wishlist too. There was a mod that did this quite well for OB but I haven't news of it in Skyrim. Pity really since I would think it more important than marriage and other stuff

I hope so too, with the omniscient guard race having died out by the time of Skyrim, it'll only make crime better. I'm not sure if there's any news to it.

if you hid bodies, how will the guard walk up to them and touch them like in oblivion?

I'm still waiting for the Guard mod that makes them go, "Hey You! Where are you dragging that dead body!?"

Not sure how I feel about that one. I always found it hilarious in Morrowind and pictured my character shoving an entire body under a rug, into his Guybrush sized pants or consuming it whole. Maybe something with a tad more realism than magic corpse disposal button?

just quoting from memory but he said

" i killed a vilager and his wife and carried thier bodies to the nearby creek and watched them float away"

like i said this was just a podcast and it was a while ago so ... take it as you will

It would be enough to do the job, but after 10 years I'd expect the system to be much better. Bethesda can really learn from other games as far as stealth and assassinations are concerned like Assassin's Creed, Metal Gear Solid and Deus Ex : Human Revolution. Making a body just disappear by pressing a button seems really silly in a 2011 game, maybe back in 2001 it was somewhat innovative.

I'm not giving up hope yet, if they fixed the spider tingling all-knowing guards from Oblivion and added ultra realistic AI to unscripted dragons, I don't see why they wouldn't be able to fix this in Skyrim, it's a small thing compared to the improvements over Oblivion that we've seen so far.

Dragging dead bodies is improved. One of the reviews talked about a player asked Pete if bodies floated in the water and Pete told him try it and find out, so the guy pulled the dead body to the water and it floated down stream. Plus in fallout new vegas they improved it too, once you press Z the dead body is locked in and you can carry it around without HOLDING Z. It slows you down a little but it's not this insane huge task like it was in Oblivion, it is much easier.

That said, we can be pretty sure it will be better, but probably not perfect. I doubt people will recognize you are hiding a body or something. Also I doubt you can carry a dead body through a door, you could not do it in new vegas. So if you kill someone in their house their body will be there forever.

I can already see people killing whole towns and showing screenshots of the end of the river where hundreds of dead NPC's are piled high that floated downstream.

That would be so awesome.

And yea, here's proof that dragging bodies is not only implemented, but improved, especially considering the dev wanted to show it off.

http://www.g4tv.com/games/xbox-360/64714/the-elder-scrolls-5-skyrim/articles/75415/the-elder-scrolls-5-skyrim-pax-2011-preview-how-best-to-dispose-of-dead-townspeople/

"The developer told me that if I wanted to drag them in to the water I could, so you can guess what happened next.

That's right! I dragged the two townsfolk in to the stream and away they floated. The developer let me know that if I had stayed with them that they would have kept floating for a very long time, fallen over waterfalls, and more. I would have loved to see this in action, but I knew there were dragons to slay, so I went on my way. However, this left me wondering what would have happened if those townsfolk would have given me quests had I not killed them. Would there quests now be given to me by others, or did I forgo them forever? It's a question I didn't get any answers to, and for that I'm sorry."

Forgive me, but what is the point of dragging or disposing of dead bodies? From what I can tell from previous games they had no other function than dragging or disposing. Will there be consequences for not disposing of a corpse this time? Will a corpse lead the Guards to your door?

I imagine it'll be more realistic. It would be stupid to assassin someone, leave him in the middle of the street and the guards are all relaxed smoking weed and pimping ladies in the streets with dead bodies all around. Guards SHOULD get alarmed and increase in number for a period of time when they find a dead body.

You know.... I feel really dumb because for the longest time I didn't know you could do that in Oblivion

That sounds awesome :) I hope if someone finds the bodies or sees them they may report it too! And then perhaps posters are put out like "If anyone knows any information relating to the death's of such and such please alert a Legion Guard or Officer immediately." And then it would have more detail in smaller writing like they were found floating in a river for example...

In my thread one of the things I would like improved is being able to pick people/things up and throw them :) http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1233347-tes-v-skyrim-new-things-that-should-be-imo-2/

Maybe tap the grab button to move the limb you're pointing at, or hold the grab button to pick up the body?

+1 They should get in an alarmed stated and increase in number around the area for a short time, making it very hard for you to murder some more people in that short time. I would also like for Skyrim to have you dump your bloody sword so guards do not suspect you, or at least sleep somewhere hidden until the blood wears off before entering a city. But I think that won't be easy to imply, requires some serious AI.

It'd be nice if people reacted to corpses so you had to hide them, but I don't think this will be in.
