High End PC and Skyrim Stuttering

Post » Tue Aug 19, 2014 5:02 pm

Hi,

I'm not one to usually post on forums for help, but I'm pretty much at my wit's end.

Just purchased a high-end PC that should in all rights be able to handle Skyrim and then some. Instead there's some pretty bad stuttering going on.

Got the settings on Ultra. Took the shadows down to low to see if that helped, ran the 64hz bug fix, turned Vsync on and off again, nada.

Ran the borderless window skyrim mod with SKSE, that smoothened it a bit but there's still a fair bit of stutter that just shouldn't be there.

My computer specs:
Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz (LGA-1150)

Intel Z97 Chipset (LGA-1150)
Gainward 4GB GTX 760 PCI-Express Video Card

G.Skill Sniper 16GB Kit (8Gx2) DDR3 1600 Memory

Seagate 2TB SATA3 Hard Disk Seagate 2TB SATA3 Hard Disk
Solid State Drive SanDisk Extreme II SSD 120G SATA3 SSD Solid State Drive
Windows 8.1 64 bit
Running Skyrim 1.8.1 and SKSE 1.6.6
Kind of seems stupid to have a good PC and then have to put the Skyrim stats down to run it. I was really looking forward to modding the crap out of it.

When you ran this, did you edit the INI file for the Plugin and clamp the framerates to something like 42 to 48? The game is real smooth for me on my I5 and 7950 (7970? I forget) at that frame rate.

Are you running any ENBs? Some of those kill performance on even high end rigs.

If you have a lot of mods, even some enb's on ultra, that would kneel almost every GPU down.

Try not to play on ultra, and enable Vsync=adaptive

As for your system it would be much more balanced, if you have chosen an i5-4690K paired with an GTX 770.
