High Level Enemies

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 7:35 am

Considering the fact that we now have a levelling system similar to Fallout's, which enemies would you like to see fulfil the role of the constantly high level enemies (an equivalent of the Deathclaw in Fallout:NV for those that have played)?

Of course there are dragons, but I'm thinking more along the lines of your average creatures.... From the list there's been announced already there are several potential candidates for higher level enemies (giants, frost trolls , big spidery thing....) but what would you personally like to see form Skyrim's tougher fauna?

We know already that not every creature you encounter will immediately attack you so should high level enemies always be hostile?

Some kind of frost troll would be cool, or a large skeleton wearing a fur coat and gloves would be an interesting enemy to fight.

That just made me think - I sure hope dragon aren't scaled to your level.

Some ideas for very high level enemies -

secretive expert wizard/necromancer who will not be disturbed
Some very strong daedra (sp?)
a super strong naked nord warrior with a literal fist of iron
an ancient lich
very strong wildlife one-offs like a an unusually big wooly mammoth/giant/slaughterfish etc

any of those types of things would be cool

I like the idea of a giant wooly mammoth.

Probably a lot of the Daedra such as Dremora Lords and Storm Atronachs. These however would probably only appear near conjurers or outside Daedric Ruins (if they end up in the game).

Daedra, Daedra, Daedra! I.E. particularly Dremora Lords, Golden Saint and Mazkan, Xivalai etc.

And, obviously, The Dragons.

Certain powerful Dragon Priests,

Giant Shaman and Chieftans maybe???

The occassional high powered sorcerer.

Ancient Vampires and Ancient Liches ( both rare )

Wraith Kings, perhaps.

Frost Monarchs (greater version of the Daedric Frost Atronach)

And NO I do not think they should all be hostile all the time.

The undead Dragon Priests, maybe, but Daedra, Giants, even some Dragons perhaps, might not always be hostile depending on the circumstances and Player history.

Did anyone here read the OP before posting what type of creature they want? He/she is asking not just of your opinions on what type of creatures but whether they should always be hostile.

In my opinion the Giant should be a high level enemy...and from what was hinted, they are not always hostile. However, for most part the high level creatures should be fierce creatures, that are quite savage, such as the Uderfrykte. I'd like to see a return of Snow Bears and Snow Wolves (preferably only appearing in blizzards) and of course werecreatures.

Sniped by Ainurolorin, but at least he/she read the OP ;)

Antronachs are not daedra, but yes lords could be high-level enemies

There is ample lore stating that Atronachs ARE Daedra. You refute this. Your Evidence?

I think most creatures (as already stated by Todd) won't be hostile, which (at last) makes sense.

I would to see lots of creatures... But mostly I want them to pull off the hostile NPCs right. In Oblivion a bandit with glass/daedric armor with an insanely huge axe is not really a bandit... it's a rich Lord who decided to take a day off his regular life and went on a killing spree...

That is because between Daggerfall and Morrowind there was a shift about them. Originally there were Fire Atronachs and Flame Daedra, Ice Atronachs, etc. The Atronachs were constructs, not daedra...but the Daedra with elemental aspects were of course daedra. However, starting with Morrowind there were just "Atronachs" but considered daedra....so I guess the two were combined at that point.

Since when? Last time I checked they were constructs (like golems in D&D).
Need to check for more datails in UESP

Apparently, since TES3 Bethesda fused atronachs with elemental daedra
Interesting how flesh atronachs fit in new lore?

He allready appeared in TES4.
It seems he had stuck in one of the planes of oblivion, for ~200y
Or maybe he is true reason why Morrowind exploded :D

Agree with your sentence, as well powerful high level enemies can be non random and hand placed in certain environments as boss type enemies.

Maybe I want to see Deathclaws in TES. Maybe a wizard was able to conjure up enemies from another dimension?

In all seriousness though.......if they are going to be high level enemies then I want them to be bigger or look different. Not basically the same enemy with a slightly different name that takes twice as long to kill. Like a zombie is a zombie.......if a dread zombie is going to be harder I want it to either be bigger or have a special sword or armor etc so that I know it is a higher level enemy.

I would like to see of course Daedra, we already know there will be giants and dragons. I would like there to be some really rare powerful enemies like the Super Mutant Behemoths in Fallout 3. I think there were only 5 of them in the whole game. Give me some rare enemies like that......what kind??? Suprise me Bethesda!

The Pale one...if any of you have seen any of the posts i have made regarding what it should be you would know its a gigantic bull mammoth. at least twice the size of a normal mammoth with bone white fur scars and numerous arrows and a few javelins imbedded in its ancient hide. and it will be found in a hard to access area outside solitude. maybe even have a part to play in a daedric quest most likely hircines. i really want bethesda to make this creature an enemy as it would be a very fun fight.

Deathclaw equivalent in TES is daedroth (sort of)

Dragons could be TES Behemoths
I don't expect more than 10 dragons in my playthrough, otherwise dragonfights will become too often and loose their value
