-High lvl- BORED nothing to do after main quest completed?

Post » Tue Jan 19, 2016 8:40 am

Hi folks!

So as the topic says, the game get really boring once you've completed the main quest. Where "The elder scroll" saga still offers A LOT to do with factions ranking, secondary quest, crafting skills, exploration... here, well I'm not going to spoil how the factions afect one another but... it shortens the game's lifespans massively. Even if it wasn't the case, get up the faction ranks is so easy and fast! Despite playing in very hard!

Well I'm being very salty about it, sorry.

Do you guys in the same position as mive found anything interesting to do?

Beside:

-Farming companion's approval to get the unique perks,

-Playing minecraft with your settlements,

-Hunting the uniques -Weapons/Armors-

-Hunting the magazines-Bobbleheads

Not that i'm not interested, but it's done already, and yes, I'm a nerd =]

Edit: farming achievements.

second run through, try role-playing it! I have heard a lot of players talk about doing re-play as Stealth only, or DiD, melee only or other types of characters.

I'm on my 4th character but I've only fully completed the main quest once. I have over 250 hours thus far and have tried out a few mods for the last 2 playthroughs. I used to play a wide variety of games as well play with others quite often... Lol I have absolutely no desire to play anything but fallout right now.

I imagine around 500 hours I will have seen nearly everything and can start thinking about other games (or possibly a melee playthrough lol)

I have never played a single player game with even close to the replay-ability of fallout 4.

With DLC I will probably put in well over 1000 hours.

Fighting style is roleplay these days? There is little more to roleplaying than that.

I just help my friends play now, doing the same quest for the 50th time gets boring. I show them where to get everything fun and hard to find until they get bored too lol.

I've been doing the farming sim after completing the main quest.

What I did was go on hunting sorties to collect food and cook it.

I would use only that food to survive on the highest difficulty, whilst just wearing clothes that offer no damage protection, relying on health, chems, weapons and dodging.

It's like starting over again.

But I've taken it as far as I want to go down that path so will give it a rest now and wait for some DLC.

A second run sounds like the only option indeed. But like Prankstar61 was saying, doing the same quest over and over again ain't as exciting, but it indeed unlock the advanced faction quests which could be interesting!

But to bo honest, being a high-end player, farming the begining of a game 3 time to get to see the 3 faction's end main quest story ain't my thing.

Sounds like Bethesda is now developping it's games for casual gamers, slowly disapointing the hardcoe we are. Reaching a certain point the game simply lack of content. So you're farming around a hundred of hours to get a kick ass caracter, then when you finally have it... well you don't need it anymore.

Like pugsley100, I'll just wait for the DLC to be released, supposedly "early 2016". Well they better hurry up before we get our interest on another game!

I've put in around 300+ hours, have completed the main quest at around 290 hours, and am still finding new things, new people, and new quests, aside from the radiants and random encounters.

I'd suggest that the longevity and interest level of the game is basically a function of how you play it, but I'm not judging people for their play styles. If you go into the game with the aim of going for certain achievements, then it's possible that the game would get boring...if you approach it more as an explorer, with long term goals, then the game may last longer for you.

I've put in 150+ hours am level 63 or something and beat the main quest a while ago and almost found myself with the same problem. got tired of the radiant quests from the BoS and my settlement was fully built. thats when i decided to do a sweep of the entire map, grid by grid, building by building. I was surprised of the amount of locations i hadn't discovered and even more surprised by the amount of locations I did discover but never bothered to explore. this alone got another 50 hours out of the game (still havent finished my initial sweep) and once ive finished that ill be doing a sweep of all of the highways. make sure ur lockpicking and hacking skills are maxxed out so you can access all areas.

I have 588 hours and lvl 104. Not even close to finish MQ, I run all factions radiant quests and not all places are visited either. All bubbleheads yes, but not the magazines. I have plenty settlements undone, I just see what Bethesda has in mind due to DLC and patch etc. I'm also waiting for the game editor.

Cheers,

I have over 600 hours, have beaten it around 6 - 7 times to try different variations and to see what I may of missed. And coming up with different back story's. It is hard to Keep going for me after the main quest is done. And I have come to the conclusion that there is only one way I will be ending the game from now on. I wont go into why, just state I am a dad of a 1 year old boy.

So, coming up with a good back story that centers around you being a good guy, OR doing some really heavy RP to make a bad guy. You HAVE to be really good at RP though in order to truly feel as though you are being bad. *Sigh* I can not go into much detail on that though as spoilers would follow.

At the moment I plan on doing one more playthrough, it will be a cheat playthrough. I shall be "Thor" I imagine though that will get old fast. I loath cheating. But for RP I will script something up.

Good luck :)

And here is to hoping the G.E.C.K. will be out soon, and a DLC announced.

Sooner or later all repetitive behaviour gets boring and games are only varied in a restricted way. I got bored by Skyrim before I were through the main quest in my first playing session for example because I played it so much. Did something else and a year later, with many nice mods, played it through. I still play it from time to time (with Requiem mod). So my advice were, look for another occupation for some time.

I've given myself targets. Get every settler/provisioned kitted out in good gear, finish building but the main thing is modding, there is simply no real endgame content so I will add my own.

l'v kitted out all my guard settlers with Endormoon's Custom armor with minutemen decal and renamed the settlers guards to minutemen with drdanzel's settler renaming mod , makes role-playing play though so much easyer on the brain.

Kept myself entertained with multiple playthroughs, but I always have a way of approaching things in games like this. I don't meticulously scour the map for example with just one character, I left many buildings and locations untouched for subsequent playthroughs. I also had a hardcap for when I was 'done" with a character which is level 50, I mean even before this point on survival the game gets really easy. Of course each playthrough saw me working with a different faction and I have yet to see the Minutemen's to the end yet, mostly because I dislike settlement babysitting and all that jazz, so there is still that to do later.

If you're on pc, nothing wrong with just taking a break, once a game starts to feel boring, there is probably little that others can suggest that would revitalize it short of saying wait for dlc and player made mods that add to the game's content. I mean some of the better quests I've played in skyrim were made entirely by players.

Load your old save file and try to do different thing. Either ending or approach or something stupid since you've done the game already.

Fallout 4 is super repetive and more like an open world shooter than a roleplaying game like many people expected. Shooting, building and exploring is fun but it becomes stale before too long because it is just more of the same. If at least all existing settlement were bigger and had a few good quests in them then it would have been different. Even the quests from the Slog or Bunker Hill are them same thing as the generic quests.

I played through NV at least 5 times and I spend far more time than nessessary to go around without being like "again?". NV had it's own faults faults but at least the settlements created their own atmosphere and not every location was just dungeon to slay something. Too much is left to our imagination.

Fallout 4 failed at balancing the different aspects of it's design. It is shooter on a giagantic map with some halfdone minecraft meets mini sim city.

It doesn't matter how much I love a game. Eventually, I will get tired of playing and want to do something else for a while. Just go do something else...play another game, read a book, watch movies, socialize....whatever you enjoy....and then get back to the game when you're more in the mood. If you try to force yourself to play something when you're really not feeling it, then you will just put yourself into more and more of a bad mood. The game isn't going anywhere and doesn't have a time limit.

True up to a point, certainly.

I've spent what must be thousands of hours playing Beth's previous games from Morrowind onwards. I've played them multiple styles just to see how flexible they were.

I still have reservations about the longevity of this one.

Mind, if I do start modding it, I probably won't get time to play in any case.

I've only played one character and I'm at level 70 with zero chance of starting a new one. I for one didn't think the main quest was so amazing and satisfying that everything after that was chicken feed. The main quest was just that...a quest. When it was done, my fun actually began. I took a companion and we have just randomly explored, which was extremely enjoyable for me. There are hundreds of locations, so we are looking through each one, gathering bobbleheads, magazines, legendary items, items to scrap, etc. My difficulty has been boosted to very hard, so each fight is a life or death struggle. I'm not sure how it can become boring for some after the main quest unless they already explored everything on the map. Another activity that was really fun for me was creating the ultimate shelter. I might make a new one in another location. It's feeling like a more advlt version of Minecraft. Lots of fun.

i hit level 80 and finally complete everything on the game, i spend around 300hs. On Skyrim i explore and did all on over 200hs ( no counting DLC of curse)

300hs on a single player game, for me is well spend money =D.

i mean is a single player game, non Skyrim or NV or Fo3 provide me with endless content after i complete all on the map. So i need to re-play another PC or just move to another game and wait for DLC. (or big mods)
