High resolution textures (PC)

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 3:11 pm

Oblivion high-res texture mods are obviously very popular. Do you also think that it should be standard for a 2011 PC game?

Although I voted yes, I second this motion.

I voted "I don't care", but I think they should include them for everyone else that wants them. If they're there my system won't be able to run them, but for everyone else that can run them, would be nice for them to be included.

Yes, you should be able to change it just like Anti-aliasing, Anisotropic filtering etc.

Depends on publishing deal with MS. If the deal allows for exclusive platform content that isn't on their platform, then maybe.

No, i own a Dx11 mid-high PC and I wouldn't want high-res textures.

Would be nice, but don't expect it. I would expect our wonderful modding community to be eager to make a good game look better.

I'd like to take advantage of DX11 also.

Yes of coarse. And anyone who WANTS a game that they like to have worse graphics is either selfish or a troll in my honest opinion.

As TES fans we should ALL want Skyrim to be the best it can be, and live up to its full potential, no matter what system you play on, or what your financial situation is.

Apart from the seemingly obvious (Crysis, Metro 2033), can someone list a few recent games that have hi-res textures and a few that don't?

I voted yes, though my PC needs a new set of hardware to keep up.

voted i dont care.
i like eye candy just like anybody else, but if i had a list of priorities im more concerned about the story, playability, crashing, etc. id much rather have a great story and playable game with 512 tex rather than a boring unengaging game with 2048.

I'd like better textures to come standard (as in the highest of three options or so), but I'm really more concerned about the game's stability on PC.

Exactly. Heck if given the option I would want DX11 and Extreme Tessalation for Skyrim. As optionals obviously so everyone could play it :)

I barely have enough hard drive space left for low resolution textures. I don't need any more games taking up 16+ gig.

Yes. Also, I think it was confirmed that the screens were from 360, and I hope that's true, because I hope PC gets better textures than that. I have the magazine, and many look sub-par given the rest of the game's superb beauty and when it's coming out.
