[WIP] High Rock

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 9:00 pm

Okay, I've read through the threads on your forum, and I'd really like to do one of the village claims. I'd prefer Glenpoint, personally :)
A town claim like Dwynnen is a little bit too much for me. (And I don't really mind if I get to do retextures or not - although I believe that ANY settlement will sooner or later require some unique resources, be it banners, inn signs or something else.)

Yes pretty much all the settlements will need inn signs and small retextures, but not every settlement will be getting a banner (which is reserved more for the larger settlements and cities, and very occasionally a smaller settlement, but it'd need a good reason).

Glenpoint is a nice little claim, and it does need some retexturing work done, as it has it's own http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Knights_of_the_Owl, also Glenpoint is one of the Major Theive's Guild HQ in High Rock (the other being Gen Tem Village, a purely Theive's Guild Village), so even just a sheild retex with an owl on it would be excellent :)
(Also the Theives Guild HQ comes from a Daggerfall reference, http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Thyr_Topfield, http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Lord_Bertram_Spode, http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Sylch_Greenwood, given the "high" concentration of 'known' Npcs it made sense to make Glenpoint one of the HQ's).

We're trying to avoid retextures (atleast for architecture)

Is this because you prefer to stick to vanilla and keep the mod filesize down, or because you prefer completely new custom meshes instead of mere retextures?

Completely new custom meshes is our goal, however retextures if there's no other option avaliable (this isn't something we want to have to do), and we'll do almost anything not to use vanilla architecture :)

Granted! I've updated the thread to indicate you've claimed it. I assume you're familiar with all the lore?

I'd love to try myself at a small village... something like Pelagiad. Just a couple of houses and maybe one major manor or small castle or Imperial fort.

On another note, I have a couple of retextured vanilla buildings that are supposed to look like the Imperial style found in Morrowind, but they would probably fit perfectly into High Rock as well. http://img697.imageshack.us/i/sample1f.jpg/, http://img203.imageshack.us/i/sample2n.jpg/, http://img697.imageshack.us/i/sample3st.jpg/, http://img203.imageshack.us/i/sample4l.jpg/...

Oooh! These do look nice? Are those your textures or Connary's? You could release that on Nexus maybe?

Btw. All NPCs in Pelagiad tell that one would think that it is somewhere in High Rock, so I think it would also be nice for this mod.

I guess so... I've read the description (also the one for Glenumbra) and I've looked into the Imperial Library, and I'm pretty sure I got everything.
So I'll just wait for esm with the Anticlere architecture then?

washington - Yes I guess I could do that, but I'd have to finish it first. And it's not really a big thing, I just retextured some vanilla textures and used them in a new way. The exception is the thatched roof, which I got from AnOldFriend (who basically said I could do whatever I want with it because he doesn't care :P).

Yup just wait for the resource .esm, when it's done the download link will be PMed to you (aswell as all the other modders) :)

will regions be developed first, or are we going to build settlements on the landscape as it is now?

Regions have already been semi-developed, but they will done properly after settlements, ruins and any other locations have been added to the world (just so everything can be blended in better), and new content will be added to the regions then (like new trees, etc).

I hope there are lots of mega-dungeons (many levels, many rooms) created.

There will be some (but bear in mind that they take a very long time to make well!) The Crypt of Hearts will certainly be included, and will probably be the biggest dungeon in the mod.

And the Crypt of Hearts will actually be comprised of smaller Crypts and Dungeons, aswell as the main Crypt of Hearts and Catacombs :) (Some ancient royalty, past heroes and saints, etc have their own Crypts dedicated to them, some will be filled with undead and ghosts, others will be better maintained).

Not technically new, we're essentially the same High Rock mod that's been around for the last 3-4 years, just changed hands and re-launched (that and we've made more progress than alot of the other province mods) :)

And I'm the modeler for the Circus Carriage, I loved working on it! :)

Any chance you'd be interested in taking a claim Ibsen?

Sadly not, TOYB. I have my hands full with Black Marsh. When we get our beta version out then I might look around a bit elsewhere then but it won't be much. Any chance of releasing the carriage for our use? No problem if you want to hang onto it.

Sorry for the off topic, but I very much liked your retexture that I've made some houses with Connary's textures!

If you want to asset share you'll need to offer something in return, but yes I'm all for giving permission to Black Marsh to it if we get some custom asset(s) in return :)

Also as a note to everyone else, I've been very busy at work atm with my shifts (mainly doing nights), but I'll have Monday and Tuesday off to get the resource file up :)

Also, another new architecture set!
I don't understand why would any Breton even go to Cyrodiil, Morrowind or anywhere when they have such nice villages!

Uh, that Phitt! I was just watching his videos on Youtube! The stuff is so awesome that it's hard to believe that he's a human! Maybe he's alien? Or Dwemer?

Here some pics of the tileset I'm developing at the moment.

I'm thinking about adding a mill as the last building. Would you prefer a water- or a windmill?

I can just imagine...maybe the creepy caretaker of the windmill has a lot of evil secrets about him! Perhaps in the basemant, he has a lot of dead bodies and it turns out he is a necromancer...
