High Rock
The Direnni West

http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1078198

'High Rock, the westernmost province on the mainland of Tamriel, is a land of temperate climates and soft rolling hills, split in half by the towering Wrothgarian Mountains.
The quaint charm of its hamlets and austere grandeur of its cities speak of a gentle life, something that was only a distant dream for most of the long, peculiar history of the Bretons.'

PGE, 3rd Edition

After several years of development the High Rock mod is finally going public, we are the result of several attempts at the same mod, and through those attempts we have finally come to a point where the province is entirely acheivable -we have models, we have textures, we have a fully region gen'd and appropriate scaled height map, and dedicated project leaders who have stuck by the mod for years, and will not leave. We have all the resources, all the planning is done, and now we only have to mod the province itself, which has already begun :)

I don't know about Ninjas, however we are featuring http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Chulmore_Quill, which acts as a cover for the Dark Brotherhood in High Rock, which is close as we're getting to Ninjas :)

This will be a must download for me when it comes out, my PCs are split evenly between Breton and Dunmer races. Keep up the good work.

Nice, can't wait. Does this have any affiliation with the High Rock I see on Silgrad Tower forums?

Yes it does, we've gone through a couple years of the mod in differnt incarnations, http://www.silgradtower.net/Websites/HighRock/index.htm which grinded to a halt when the previous leaders of the old High Rock mod had RL Issues (being sick, family issues, etc) but Deeza (other Co-Leader) and I were already modding for High Rock then; then there was http://www.silgradtower.net/Websites/HighRock2/index.htm which about halfway through it's life came under my Leadership due to RL issues again with the previous Leader (who had briefly returned, but soon after left again), after which Razorwing decided to pull the hosting for the High Rock forums (which were hosted conditionally through a deal between Razorwing previous leaders, whom never came through on their side of the deal), and then the mod went underground and has since been worked on by Deeza, Myself and others from time to time. During the time it went underground, the mod also benefited from the old assets from Noirgrim's High Rock mod (of which his map his under the High Rock maps section on TIL), which included his Map, and his Height Map, which then brings us to current events with the relaunch of the mod, with me and Deeza at the helm :)

I can easily show you any part of the Height Map that you want to see, however because LOD hasn't been generated yet I can't show you the entirity of it (though I may generate the LOD tommorrow, it's not really time consuming, just means it has to be regenerated at a later point once the Height Map has been edited by modders).

That's really good to hear, it's great to have supporters in the community :)

I noticed in one of your really old heightmaps that a part of Hammerfell is included, http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a177/SilgradTower/ForumAttachments/hr/Heightmap_topo.jpg

Are you planning on including some parts of Hammerfell in your latest version also?

In all of the Height Maps, there has been parts of Hammerfell, and of Skyrim present, we won't actually have these areas playable, they are present for LOD reasons (so you can see them in the distance), however we may have important places visible in the distance from High Rock (like Sentinel across the Illiac Bay in Hammerfell), if you want to see Hammerfell I suggest following TR's fantastic Hammerfell mod of very high quality, and we may have some sort of connection point between the two mods some time in the far flung future :)

Looks interesting. A question: How can the player reach High Rock? By means of travel (ship, etc) or can one just walk across Cyrodiil's border?

Are you working in a new worldspace or using the Tamriel worldspace?

There is no direct border between Cyrodiil and High Rock, so the player will have to get there by some form of scripted travel between worldspaces. We're currently thinking of this being by ship (due to our plans for the initial quests in High Rock), but it's possible we might include other options, such as teleportation via the Mages' Guild.

High Rock will be in its own unique worldspace for two reasons:
(1) It makes conflicts with other mods much less likely
(2) A separate worldspace will significantly decrease load times. Oblivion seems to have an upper limit to worldspace size which cuts performance once it is exceeded.

Good plan :) And two accurate and valid reasons.

You could also provide carriage travel from Tamriel to High Rock - only really needs an NPC offering the service, no need to show the carriage/wagon in-game.
