Hip fire as accurate as ADS?

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 2:42 pm

I was looking through the threads and i saw this -
"aiming down the sights is not required to improve accuracy."
Is this true? Does ADS have no non-cosmetic advantages?

ADS is more accurate.

Just not as stupidly more powerful than in every other recent shooter.

I don't know where you read that. Everything I've read and/or heard just said that hip fire is very reliable but ADS will still be more accurate. Can you post the article that you read that from?

ADS is more accurate over longer distances, but the most you can really do is to fire in bursts at range. That should be more important than ADS.

If anything hip fire is accurate until the spread and recoil cause you to miss the barn. ADS will allow you to hit consistently but not bullet on bullet like COD.

You should read the Compendium at fragworld (tha't shwere it is, right? I only read it once). It'll tell you about everything we KNOW about the game.

In regards to ADS, I think that it just comes down to hip-firing just being very accurate. Not more accurate than ADS, not more powerful, not the only way to play. Just more accurate of hip-fire than in most FPS games.

Oh ok. I know what you mean. But yeah, most of the devs have just said that hipfire is a viable choice. Pretty much what Rev said.

Apparently, ADS will actually be similar accurate to the ACR and M4A1 from MW2.

similar but from pax east vids it looked like there was recoil and it seemed to fire bullets not "lasers" like the ACR. the M4A1 wasn't a laser rifle like the ACR was.

well i read a review from someone who played it at pax and they said that hip fire was way to ridiculous. he/she said that hipfire was so accurate that there was no point in ADS. personally, i am very upset about this. obviously i dont think you should be l33t to play a shooter, but i still think you should develop *some* skill at it. this level of hip fire only provokes spray and pray, something i am against very much. tsk, if i seriously svck at driving games i dont play driving games and i dont expect devs to put something that will make me play at l33t level.

edit:
i found what i was mentioning:

http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/brink/show_msgs.php?pid=960407&topic_id=m-1-58417752

they dont use the word "ridiculous" but you get the point.
p.s. can someone pm how it is that you put a link and replace it with a word that redirects you to that link? yes, im noobish with html

Exact same feelings here, man, except that every weapon in MW2 was technically a laser. Bullets went exactly where the irons/optics were pointed. I don't like being sprayed at a distance, that's about it. Honestly, Shinigami, It's not going to be that big of a deal.

This just means that there will be two different play styles that are being made and balanced to do the exact same thing. You still have to aim with both styles, but one style just requires one more button and a little faster movement. I don't see the big deal here.

ADS is more accurate but in close range combat I would personally prefere hip fire since it has a reticle similar to the Halo AR.

Really? The reticule of BRINK reminds me of the one for Bad Company 1 and the Bad Company 2 demo (I hated how DICE switched to COD-style crosshairs instead of the circle reticule).

Go check youtube Brink gameplay and comparte the reticle to a Halo Reach AR reticle. Very similar.

hyperlink it copy the address then highlight the word you want then hyperlink it using the icon.

OT
the first couple shots are not dead-on but within 1 to 2 MOA of the target. it is accurate but not as accurate as ADS. i don't see this game having the bullet on bullet FA problem MW2 has.

It's actually more similar to the DMR reticle. The AR reticle has the circle and crosshairs, DMR is just a dot in a circle.

DMR is small as heck though. That'd be like a light rifle with a grip reticle...................

No such thing as spray and pray with hip fire if you hit what you are aiming for.

Then that's what my Brinker needs. I've always been a demon when I used the BR and DMR.

Actually, Zernok, because the trajectory of each bullet fired from the hip is random, you're praying you land your 4 hits before they do.

Everyone should, outside a proximity of about 3-5 meters, depending on what weapon you and your enemy are using. Anyone who's seen the videos knows that Brink's hip-fire is to be reckoned with, but it's not an end-all tactic.

Anyway hipfire will be fine at close to medium range but ADS more effective medium to long.
