Hip Fire vs Iron sights

Post » Wed Mar 09, 2011 12:10 am

So in the recent interview they said that hip fire will be as accurate as iron sight fire?!? how is that at all fair... Iron fire for 1 you must stand still(move slow) to fire however (usually) making you more accurate but now that hip fire is just as accurate whats the point of even adding iron sights. Me personally I believe that there should be a balance of both for say you can shoot from hip but your going to have to burst fire or the bullet spread will be too high whereas whiel using ironsight the difference in bullet spread is minimal? please let me know your thoughts on hip fire! I'm a huge brink fan I just dont want something silly like that ruin the competitive nature of the gameplay! another thign would be that hip fire works up to a certain distance and then one should use ironsight to finish the kill! well please give me ur feedback.

Thanks

he makes it sound as if Brink will be mostly for the casual gamer and not the competitive one! The thing about snipers is its true that in some games there overpowered as a bullet to the foot will kill But I think they should find a sweet spot in between lets say for example someone has light body type it would take 1 headshot to kill and 2 tot he to body....then if medium body type i think it could be 2 body and 1 head and for heavy body it would take 2 for the head and 4 for the body something along those lines as it will take much skill to snipe someone with light body type on as there moving very fast and unpredictably! It feels as if Brink isn't rewarding much for skilled players it seems as if its just for the casual gamer. I hope they prove em wrong

Some people don't like Iron Sights. Brink caters to everyones play style better this way. Also;

Thanks I do believe that Hipfiring could work as Rainbow six vegas pulled it off to be very balanced people barely used iron sights then they were very good but the thing is only very skilled players can hip fire from long distances... I'm curious too see how it turns out

He never said it would be just as accurate as ironsights, just that hip-firing would be a viable choice. If you want that pinpoint accuracy, especially over long ranges, then use sights.

Have you played FPS games from pre-2007? There were very rarely any iron sights, and that worked just fine. Anyway, Brink is heavily close-quarters based, so range shouldn't be a problem in most instances.

hmm the more I think about it the more I can see it work!! i just hope there is some sort of rifle and that it isn't nerfed hahah especially for teamwork a good sniper can back up all his teamates and make good call outs!

hopefuly they release a demo

I think there will be 2(3?) rifles, one for sure a semi-automatic, the other being a bolt-action.
And don't worry too much about hip-fire vs. iron sights, to be the best you will have to use both in order not to needlessly waste ammo.

95% they won't. It really shouldn't be that big of a deal. Also, still glad to see both options are viable.

Snipers were removed to prevent people from just sitting in one spot and performing OHKs. BRINK aims for close-quarters combat. However, like Immoral Saint has said, there are two short rifles that are available to Lights, which deal a good amount of damage in exchange for slower fire rates.

Yea I think from what I saw in videos hip fire is a little more accurate then Im used to/like but I will still ADS and as long as im putting more bullets into him then he is to me it will be just fine.

Personally I'm just hoping that there will be a range increase for ADS, anything else is just gravy. I love sniping with SMG's and shotguns when nobody thinks you can make those shots :gun:

the thing is when you hip fire you will still be able to strafe and move a lot more then ADS so you'll be at a disadvantage

Not if 1) you're a better shot, and/or 2) you are at range.

This game has too many small corridors for shouldering to be viable 24/7, they show it mostly being for quick firing and sprinting for cover, but the iron sitting will definitely have a lower amount of spread than from the hip, watch the videos. I can't wait for this game.

Just to clear up some doubts (I'll kick myself later, but I gotta know for sure) there IS NOT any ADS capability with automatic grenade launchers or heavy machine-guns, right?

I don't think for Mini Guns or whatever they're called, but heavy machine guns yea. Auto Nade Launchers maybe not.

Just because hip-fire is ACCURATE, doesn't mean it's PRECISE.

It's like this in Borderlands, accuracy seems to remain the same whether you hip-fire or ADS... but going ADS gives you less sensitivity and often more zoom, be it the natural zoom of focusing in on an iron-sight or a higher zoom provided by a scope. This allows you to more precisely direct the bullets and utilize the weapon's accuracy at range.

+1

Just to be a technical sakdouche, the M134 mini gun is a heavy machine gun, the 240 bravo and 249SAW are light machine guns.

Though it is possible to put a optic on the minigun, I don't think it would be efficient in a portable heavy machine gun, more potent on a LMG.

As far as rifles go, there are no 1 shot kills. Not even headshots.

I'm so glad that you don't need ADS. This game should play much more like Quake than CoD, imo.

It probably will. Splash Damage make their games and mods much more Quake style than CoD style.

Snipers don't count as skilled players for the most part. For every 'good' sniper, who covers his team and genuinely contributes, there are 30 or so who just want to sit on a perch up high and rack up some OHK kills to pad their K/D.

Sniper rifles are there because people like to play with them, not because they are some fundamental part of a good team.

I'd just like to point out that shooting a light to the head might, depending on weapon and buffs, be a OHK. So if you hit a light in the head with a rifle you might kill him instantly.

Why do people still talk about snipers? There are no snipers. Light (Semi-auto) Rifles. Like some of the semi-auto 6 shot in a clip assault rifles in Borderlands

Indeed, it's really a matter of preference.

The "light rifles" are available to every bodytype. However, Lights can only use them as primaries, while Mediums and Heavies can use them as secondaries, too.

It probably will. Splash Damage make their games and mods much more Quake style than CoD style.

Not so much of a twitch-shooter like Quake, though.
