Hip-firing and iron siting

With all the people saying that hip fire is inaccurate, have you ever tried hip-firing a shotgun?

Not easy to miss.

yes. if you read my post. as a matter of fact i have. and yes it is very hard to miss. also i weigh like 130 and it was a 12 guage pistol grip. and it had very little recoil. shows you how people can exagerate things

As many people have already stated in this thread, "hip-firing" in video games is not actually firing the gun from your hip. Shoulder-fire is a more accurate description of what the character is actually doing, but I don't feel the need to reiterate what many others have already pointed out, and I'm sure you also know this as well.

I understand the video game context of "Hip-firing" I'm just saying that even ACTUALLY hip firing with a shotgun, you'll probably hit.

I was dead and waiting for the next respawn wave.

No, tbh, I was sick of seeing the same topics over and over and over again, so I took a break and waited for a new flow of information.

ADS should be designed for shooting through tight spots and targeting at longer range, to that end shoulder fire's reticle should be wider spaced (not desinged for pinpoint accuracy at range) without spread increase, and ADS turning speed shouldn't be slowed.

Gotta say, from the gameplay footage released the other day, hip-fire accuracy isn't that great at all. Only marginally less stupid than other games. Seems like with ARs you'll have to fire 2 shot bursts to keep it even remotely accurate.

l dont think anyone was specifically talking about shotguns which are designed to spray bullets over a wide area. I believe that the discussion was more along the lines of "Hip firing, aka shoulder firing" smgs, ar's lmgs and the like. shooting a machine gun and a shotgun from the hip are entirely different things and of course you also need to factor in the range involved.

my 2 cents

i have fired a number of guns, when you are familiar with a gun and the way it shoots firing from the "hip" does not make it any less accurate. if your pointing at a target and fire at it the bullet will hit it simple as that

Firing any carbine, sub-machine gun, shotgun, rifle, long-rifle... let's just say any weapon larger than your forearm from the hip on anything but single shot? Good luck controlling the recoil and hitting anything smaller than the broadside of a barn. The first shot will probably be fairly accurate, yeah, but not the second. Police and military forces train policeman/soldiers to hold their guns in a certain way for a reason.

And I believe ADS will reduce the muzzle-flash you are exposed to and allow for a more consistent control on recoil? Not sure, waiting to play it xD

But, as someone else said, they aren't really hip-firing. They are shouldering the weapon, which is pretty much ADS without the use of the actual iron sights/scope. I can live with that, because (as someone else has already said) that is what military/police forces do in CQB engagements. Iron sights don't do much for you turning corners or when breaching doors, but shouldering your weapon does. Which is what, from what I understand, the characters in Brink do when not aiming down the sights.
