So all of a sudden this group of three hired thugs start following me around. They weren't hostile but they didnt assist in anyway. So I killed them and found a note that said the relative of someone I murdered wanted me dead. Is this a glitch or did they succumb to my charm and decide to join me anyway.

This always happens to me. The first time I was coming out of a dungeon cave I had just cleared, and three hired thugs attacked me while I was off-guard. I slew them easily enough, and found the note to kill me. Sometimes thugs will be sent after you for stealing too, but mostly killing.

These guys have been hunting me around through many levels... it's simply because you have been killing bandits etc. that are associated with the Dark Brotherhood. I can't recall how many of those notes I have collected so far

I've had a few. Wish they were "hired goons," though. Like that Simpsons. "Goons." "Goons?" "Hired goons." Or however it went. There are assassins, too.

I had some builder sent a thug to "Teach me a lesson" for stealing.

I never met the guy >.>

Had thugs sent after me for stealing, found the one that hired him and slit his throat in the streets of riften. Don't send peons to meddle with a cutthroat from the brotherhood.
