Started on the Indoril armor, but it's kind of tricky to show in-game because my meshes are reflection-mapped, making it hard to see the actual texture. So here's a NifSkope shot of the helmet.

The 'mane' looks AWESOME. The actual helm I'm not so sure about. The main features look fine (the mouth, nose, and eyes) but the general texture of the whole thing looks... 'brushed'? Almost like it is made out of hair. Which again, works tremendously well for the mane but not so much for the actual armor.

Looks nice, I would suggest adding bumpmapping while you're at it. Because, well it's there.

Hmm, I see what you mean but I think that's just the way the texture stretches over the mesh, not much I can do about it. I used a flat metal texture as an overlay with a light bump map filter applied, nothing crazy lol.

EDIT: http://i.imgur.com/BjOdS.jpg, I don't know if that looks any better.

Compared http://i.imgur.com/3Y3y5.jpg very detailed effect there and with a real material/substance feeling, the mask above appears smooth, without relief, without lived through.

Alright, http://i.imgur.com/OvE3E.jpg? I improved the shading and added another detail filter, hopefully it looks less flat now.

The detail is beautiful, but I'm afraid I have to agree with Knots - something about the overlay you've used makes the metal look like fur (or in the new version, velvet). Of course, it's unlikely that you'd ever see the helm that close up in-game...

To me, the helmet feels like something that should be polished, rather than detailed. For my taste, all that really needs to be defined is the features, everything else seems more like shading and reflection.

After what Tronvillian has said, I am very interested in how the texture looks with the in-game reflect maps. The second version does look better than it did before.

Alright, couple of in-game shots. The cuirass is finished too, but I haven't touched anything else yet.

I don't really know how to make the texture on its own look reflective, so maybe for the time being I'll just have Illuminated Armor as a prerequisite

The chitin armor looks awesome, it really looks now like it was made out of insect hides...about the Indoril, perhaps I was mistaken but since it is medium armor I have always thought it was not made out of metal, but sort of a the way samurai armor is made out of leather streched over metal plates, not metalic per se...the whole "skirt" look of the bottom somehow made me think of it that way

Looks a lot better in game BUT I think you ought to darken the lines on the mask, especially on the forehead.

The reflections definitely help to offset the impression that it is somehow feltish or soft.

Are you going to release any of these as you go along, Saint Jiub? Or are you going to wait until they're all finished and release them as one big download? Not to rush you or anything, it's just that this seems like a huge project, and I can't wait to get my hands on some of those textures... :liplick:

@CABRON-- I read somewhere that the Indoril armor is chitin that has been gold-plated, so that's what I'm working with. I always assumed the "skirt" (along with the purple part of the cuirass) was chainmail.

@Knots-- I was thinking the same thing yesterday lol, but I got home from work and wasn't really in the mood to work on it last night.

@Helena-- As of now, it's going to be one package, though if I ever stop working on it for a long period of time, I'll certainly release what I've done up to that point :)

Wow! I though Darknut was the end of the line in terms of possible armor texture improvement! I was wrong!

Super awesome! Are you planning to release a Divine Domina Version? That would seriously rock! :celebration:

So I would need to get permission from Khan Raider and Alaisiagae before I released it, but what do people think of http://i.imgur.com/iwdPi.jpg as a replacement for the ebony helm mesh?

DD is outdated imo. A better solution would be models based on BB.
When I see female Orcs in DD I could go :gun:

Yeah, I'm probably not going to do Divine Domina. An awful lot of work for a mod I don't use :P I will do the original gold and domina armors though, if it makes you feel better :D
