Hit detection? Bad coding? Help, I'm going nuts.

I don't understand how the "hit detection" work in this game. More then often, I seems to die so freaking fast (even with Maximum Armor enabled).

Typical scenario, I see someone and then start shooting at him and I do see the hit markers. The enemy simply turn back, start shooting at me (from the kill cam, he only hit my legs/feets) and then after 1-2 shot, I'm dead. All this with Maximum Armor enabled. Why?

Another scenario, from the kill cam and before, I get hit by 1 or 2 bullets only (not a head shot) and die almost instantly while I know that I hit the other player bunch of times (see hit marker appears 5-6 times). Again, this is all while using Maximum Armor.

This is honestly starting to piss me off. I know it's not lag. I've managed to find servers where I have constant 40/60 ping.

So, what am I doing wrong? Are those people hacking? Any pro players around? Please enlighten me before I go ape **** >:(

Same here. This game is killing all the love I have for it, the MP is just nonsense.

Dedicated servers, as of right now, are completely and utterly broken in this game. I would even go as far as to say that the P2P connection present on the console version of the game is better than the dedicated servers.

First and foremost, zero latency compensation. Someone with ~20 ping will absolutely dominate anyone with above 50 ping.

Secondly, hit registration can't handle weapons with high rate of fire. Depending on ping, nearly half of your bullets will go unregistered if the weapon has a very high rate of fire (Feline, SCARAB). This is less prominent with lower pings and the problem is not present on P2P connections (as far as I have seen, anyway).

Thirdly, there's a very serious issue regarding lag spikes. Lost packets are very awfully handled, as far as I can make out. So, if you were to have a lag spike, there's a chance you can become stuck on someone's perspective for the time being. Completely motionless. So, while you think you might be running around on the map, in actuality, you could be being shot at by an enemy on the other side of the map. To make matters worse, if this enemy hits you enough times, you will die multiple times and they will get a multi-kill from you, respectively.

So, basically, the dedicated servers for this game are very, very poorly made. This screams of the developer having no intention of properly supporting the platform. So, likely, they will not be making any significant modifications to the networking. The fact that hackers are able to use hacks such as teleportation of targets, unlimited energy hacks, no-clip hacks and XP boosts so easily speaks for itself. The developers are either amateurs that do not possess the necessary skillsets required for making decent networking systems, or they simply lack the will to do so.

Either way, the PC version of the multiplayer part of this game clearly is nowhere near the priorities list of the developer. This is further supported by the fact that games such as Call of Duty: Black Ops have far superior networking capabilities on the PC than this game. You can make your own conclusions from that.

As iceman stated, and very well I'll add, the servers are... absolutely crippling.

I too have noticed that when I have <20 ping I can utterly destroy people with 50-70 ping. Now take that and extrapolate out to someone having 250-350 ping on a server with people who have 27. It's not fun.

If your armor mode feels like you're being killed in one or two shots, and your guns feel like they're firing pellets, change servers. You need a lower latency. It's the only resolution at this time.

Couple that with how rapidly the servers themselves degrade from usage (to the point that a single gamma burst can nearly crash them) multiplayer can be a practice in frustration. When it works, it's incredibly fun. When it doesn't.... well... yeah.

Totally agree - one of the most frustrating multiplayer experiences ever.. and such a disappointment because it promised so much.. It really is 'hit and miss'!!!

+1 to the OP, I've had that happen to me soo many times, I'd rather go back and play the PC MP demo, it seemed like there was less BS on that, LOL

There was definitely that on the demo as well, but somehow it didn't seem as severe.
