Hjerim issue with weapon racks

Post » Mon Aug 05, 2013 8:02 pm

Prior to purchasing the children's bedroom for Honeyside, I removed all of the weapons and armor sets from the enchanting room, because the weapon racks and mannequins in Honeyside are lost after the upgrade. Having room in Hjerim to relocate the items, I decided to move the items there. Upon trying to put weapons on the racks and daggers in the display cases, they simply vanished. I equipped the weapons, clicked on the weapon rack/dagger case and the weapons simply disappeared from my inventory and never appeared on display.

Is this simply a Hjerim issue? I have other weapons on display in Hjerim that were able to be displayed just fine, but these items from Honeyside don't seem to like the place.

For now, I've held off on purchasing the children's bedroom for Honeyside, but I'm just wondering why I'm having this issue all of a sudden. I was planning on purchasing all of the children's bedrooms for all of the vanilla houses just to have the option, and Hjerim is probably my favorite out of the vanilla houses because it's the least cluttered, with plenty of space for several people to walk around in, along with the storage space.

My game is updated with the latest official patch and the unofficial patch as well. Blood on the Ice was completed with no issues.

There's lots of issues with Hjerim's weapon racks. Best not to buy that house unless you don't want to display anything.

I was able to display my Dawnguard items there with no issue. Perhaps Hjerim likes the dlc items but not vanilla? This is disappointing, as I like Hjerim's layout.

Probably. What I did was keep a save before I purchased the house so if I got a glitch I could go back. Had to go back 3 times before the house was OK. It's a nice place but best to keep away from. After 30 days I couldn't take any weapons off the racks and everything kept falling off shelves as soon as I came in.

Hjerim IS buggy, the others for the most part or not. Only vanilla house bug I know of besides this is Proudspire where one of the DLC causes you to lose your coookpot and go hungry.

The display cases in Hjerim bedroom will eat your daggers so don't use them! I lost some daggers this way! This is a known issue. :brokencomputer:

As for the rest of your issues I've had luck leaving the house and going back in and that usually solves the problem. The mannequins seem to be fine. This is a vanilla issue BTW and not due to any DLC. For vanilla display Proudspire is the best IMO.

The only bug Honeyside seems to have with some people is the wandering practice dummy so if you see one making tracks around your house don't be worried, it's not dangerous as far as we've been able to ascertain.

Thanks for the replies.

I guess I'll leave Hjerim alone for now. I can't help but see all of the weapon displays and want to fill them. Perhaps the victims of Calixto's experiments still haunt the place.

I feel your pain, there are more mannequins and weapons storage in this house than any other. Becuse of the bug issues though I removed everything and finally set them all up and more in my HF armory and Proudspire which has only two mannequins and less weapon space. It was a nice idea, if only the house wasn't so dang glitchy!

There is a section for glitches, bugs and the like.

And yet, plenty of people post threads like this in the general discussion section, and they're never moved.

Not that it bothers me, but I do regret posting my glitch related threads in the proper place since I hardly ever get more than a few replies there.

Would help if the OP actually mentioned which weapons were causing the problem. Only the dagger display cases in the main bedroom could still be glitchy, do not feed them anything you may want to use, you might not get it back. Although some daggers will not fit in the hallway dagger display cases, the weapons should still be there, floating around some where. For the hallway dagger display cases, you might try a careful look at the air above the stairs, for the weapon racks floating around the middle of the room some where, or even higher up.

And before saying the problem is Hjerim, you should check if you can put the weapons in the exact same display device else where. Honeyside has no display cases, but you could try the ones in the Markarth house. And the weapons you had on display at Honeyside might have already been bugged before you moved them, so try putting them back and see what happens. You could always try putting them in display cases by hand, although if the weapon is bugged they will probably still make a run for it, they will just wait for you to leave the house before doing it.

I don't know much about the Hjerim bug but it is very irritating to lose items that way. You can use console command to make a copy of the weapon or armor you lost. Just remember to save first in case of issues. Certain unique items don't like to have a duplicate. Command example: player.additem (item number) 1
