Hjerim, Proudspire Manor or Honeyside.

Which house should i buy ?

I know Proudspire Manor is expensive, but i have alot of gold and i need to spend it with something, so the houses costs doesn't apply in the choice here.

I already have Breezehome, but i don't like it that much, i wish to move to another house. I don't like the house of Markarth, so what house should i buy ?

Proudspire has about 3 displays for weapons and 2 armor dummies you can suit up. I like that about the house, but I don't know if any other houses have more or any at all. Its the most expensive too, which shouldn't be a huuuge problem...

I like Proudspire manner because it's close to the imperials whom I like to murder in their sleep. I do wish it were closer to the merchants and blacksmith in town however. I know, Solitude is tiny, but still a serial killer has only so many hours in a day to spend on his hobbies. Breezehome is centrally located so it's iusually where I dump all my junk until GARAGE SALE DAY!

hjerim has a nice, rustic lumberjack kind of vibe to it. honeyside has a garden, and a back porch that takes you out of the city(makes a good escape route for thief characters!), so it has a more outdoors-y feel to it. proudspire is of course you standard glorious mansion for glorious dragonborns.

just make sure you check UESP for instructions on that murder mystery quest in windhelm if you want hjerim... if you dont do it properly, you can completely screw the house up.

I actually like the Markarth house, Vlindrel Hall. Its Old School, ancient Vampire Cave atmosphere is pretty cool. I Summer there.

Hjerim... but the one thing that kind of is a let down, is the first story of your house... Breezehome has a better first story than Hjerim.

It really matters which side you want to take or who you want to be. For example, if your a nord or support the stormcloaks, you'd probably want to take Hjerm since it has a more nordic style to it. If your an Imperial (or just want to feel rich) for example, you should take Proudspire, since it makes you feel like a noble.

Which house should i buy ?

In my opinion, and for the following reasons...
Honeyside in Riften

Reasoning:
1. It does not force the MQ on my characters. Breezehome requires you begin the MQ.
2. It does not force any Faction questline on my characters. Hjerim requires you to choose sides in the Civil War.
3. It does not require a minimum Level. Proudspire Manor requires your character to be a minimum of Lvl20.
4. It does not require a minimum Level. Vlindrel Hall requires your character to be a minimum of Lvl20 to receive the required quest.

This leaves Honeyside.
I can purchase at any level, needs only minimal favor questing, affordable, and does not require my characters to join any faction.
Nor does if force me to begin any questline I never intend to complete.

A simple choice, really.
One person's opinion. Your mileage may vary. :read:

Hjerim is by far the most awesome in every way. BUT! It is buggy as hell and a pain to work around the bugs in order to buy it.

How can you not like the house at Markarth? Ah well.

I vote for Honeyside out of the three. Mannequins, weapon racks, storage, enchanting/alchemy tables, even an alchemy garden outside and a nice back porch that opens into the outside world.

It also has an unusual gem.

My favorite home is Honeyside, but that is because Riften is my favorite city and by the most convenient with the Thieves Guild and all the vendors. But, Hjerim is pretty cool, but seems a little empty for how big it is. Proudspire Manor has beautiful architecture, but sometimes feels inconvenient as far storage placement (the basemant). But, alas, all the houses are pretty neat, and you could always purchase them all and become Thane of every hold. My main character doesn't have Hjerim, mainly because the quest wouldn't trigger for me and it requires me to join the Stormcloaks (unless you finish the Imperials completely, it will become available later on), but I do have it on another character. You can always save each game and investigate each home if you're set on only purchasing one. :)

Technically I would prefer Breezehome due to the close proximity to the city gates and the stores but I love Proudspire. It's got an enchanting station, alchemy lab, Jordis, decent location.

Honeyside. Has everything you need without being too big like Proudspire Manor. The back porch leading onto a lake is awesome too.
