ex-hoker, ex-slave and lotsa bad luck.

I'v always been interested in alternate story idea's for Fallout 3. Rather, character stories, that steer away from the main story-line. Stuff like Paradise Falls, the Outcasts, etc. They all seem to have their own back story, and that kind of thing has always interested me. That being said, i'v always tried to give a backstory to my characters and it never turns out past their feelings towards the general populous of the world. They either hate people, like people, or just do what it takes to survive. However, since installing Fallout 3 again, and getting FWE to work with all the mods I like, i'v been gravitating towards the alternate starts. One I found particularly interesting, is the "Slave" start. While most of the histories you can pick are quite interesting, they all tend to lean towards the same "personality" you would find in any "I FIGHT FOR MY KING" warrior mentality. So to add a little bit more depth to my characters slave start, I decided to run ahead and give her some past a bit before it, where she was a call-girl who'd eventually got sick of the life and ran away from everything she knew, but got captured by slavers.

Now with all the realism options FWE provides, along with this alternate start, I find that this game makes an excellent role play experience. Walking through the wastes, having nothing but a crappy melee weapon and some clothes, I head out on what seems to almost be an impossible journey (I Say this because, I died like 85 times before reaching a town...). I got a bit far in my playthrough before I realized I was trying to min-max everything about my character. So right now she is saved at the point of picking everything (tag, SPECIAL, etc) before really starting the game.

Now i'm deciding on leveling up certain skills (small guns, lock picking and sneak), whilst starting out with good melee and speechcraft (Think of it as skills she built up as a call girl). Now, thinking all realistic and such for my character and gameplay also got me thinking of having her keep a "journal" if you will. Where she basically keeps a day-to-day every couple day's, and jots down what she's experienced, what she's been going through etc. And I think it would be neat to almost make a blog about it, said in the characters perspective. I feel that, if anything, it would be a neat project and something new to try. The blog would also have screenshots, or "pictures" which would work nice since the game has camera's and I could ask wandering people to take pictures, which could add to being a bit more realistic.

What do people think of this?

Too much work. But it has potential to develop a following if you are committed to it and it provides moving entertainment by being interesting and funny, or interesting and sad. If it were up to me, she would be the nastiest, most inhuman skag I could conjure and make her existence of the priority of finding FWE drugs so she could get her fix once per day. Her sneak ability would allow her to find out what kinds of things wasteland dwellers carry on them. Try a prostitution mod for her to get paid up front.

Seems a fine idea to me. Just to let you know, I also write a little diary of my character`s experiences too, dating them.

I do comic strips so was thinking it might be useful for that at some point.

If you spend so much time roleplaying, you may as well have something to show for it.

I think it is a great idea. Instead of a blog, write a fan fiction. A lot of people write them, (myself included) and include pics from the game. I have even found one fella who instead does all videos that he posts on You Tube, and links to them. Some people write straight retellings of what happened in the game. Some people write completely original stuff, and some are in between. I am probably 95% original, but still use the game to create screenshots to use. Give it a try, and see how you like it.
