Holding (a) Dagger(s) in Reverse Grip

Post » Mon Sep 26, 2011 3:06 pm

I was wondering if holding daggers in reverse grip has been confirmed?

Much appreciation to anyone who replies, thank you.

We see it in http://videogamewriters.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/darkelf-570x320.jpg but were not sure how the reverse grip is controlled.

Haven't heard confirmation.
Can't think of a way to implement it other than part of a finishing move.
To me it looks like he is performing one.

Edit: That sky is so beautiful.

It's probably part of a finishing move or power attack. Almost certainly not something we can control.

not sure how the reverse grip is controlled.

The grip is most likely directly attached to the weapon. However if my hunch is right and Bethesda has integrated NIF script type functionality into the engine then feasibly any dagger could be wielded that way by simply rotating the mesh at runtime.

who would twirl their daggers out of their perferd grip to kill someone when you can just stab 'em the other way? its probly the daggers themselves that make it reverse grip, or maybe we get to decide, i hope its one of those too ways

Just one question, does anyone know exactly why Bethesda wont implement Spears, Crossbows and Throwing weapons? Is it that they dont have the time or resources to make new animations for these objects or is it something else entirely?

Correctamundo, that is what I read. I believe I read it in the fan interview sticky; if not, I'm not sure where I read it.

I think I remember Todd saying something about it being beneath him.

Indeed, it didn't pop into my head that it could have been a finishing move, but it makes sense. Maybe I'll send @DCDeacon a tweet.

It's just a style of fighting. You can stab and slash with more force at the expense of reach with a reverse grip. And going from one to the other isn't difficult once you get used to it.

if i like to use one style over another im not going to switch unless nessesity calls, and haveing the enemy on the ropes (finishing moves) does not call for a change of battle styles

This.

I recall seeing a backwards hold during the first gameplay trailer (the one with the Esbern speaking throughout). Definitely just part of a power attack.
