Holding a Pistol sideways: yay or nay?

Post » Sat Sep 19, 2009 11:30 am

Better question: If they've added it already, would you want them to remove it?

I'd say leave it in, but as noted should take up an "ability slot" or maybe a weapon customization slot would be more appropriate

IF it was already included, then sure, why not. But the poll asked whether you should be able to toggle it, not whether it should be removed or not.

I honestly wouldn't care if people ran around thinking they were G's, just don't it detract from time that could be spent on something more important. And I say more important because I SERIOUSLY doubt that there's a mass of people begging for this option.

Agreed, but the post you quoted of mine said that they WON'T add it if it isn't already in....

there are rumors it's in already (apparently....), but I haven't seen it yet, so I'd doubt it personally.

IF it's in, I was just saying I think it should be set up in equipment or something, rather then using an alt fire or something like those earlier games, and that it should have little or no actual effect

Well yea, and I answered your post in my first sentence. :P

IF it were in, I wouldn't care if you could use it at no cost and that it was simply a toggle option under settings, as long as it didn't benefit you in any way.

I could accept a slightly faster RoF or ADS speed in exchange for a LOSS of accuracy perhaps. And then it would HAVE to be a weapon mod slot.

It really shouldn't be encouraged, and there should be BETTER options in the same slot, thus making it more of a sacrifice really.

I think if you equip/enable it, the effect should be that everyone within 20 meters of you hears this:

dude it was made for drive bys and its highly effective for that and only that.

first off drive bys themselves are not effective, there for people too scared to fight face to face (so pretty much all gangbangers) second, it does not make it more effective, go learn to use a gun irl then come talk.
:banghead:

and the ak-47 has been around for decades and is still insanely popular through out the world. that's not because its overrated its because its a damn good dun.

I like to see it, just as an aesthetic, a customization option. Why should it take up a skill slot if it doesn't do anything or close to anything?

i say yes it wouldn't change anything, besides your intimidation "ITS A KILL SHOT!". so..when you're aiming in you go back to normal, when you're not aiming it goes back to..G style. :user:

No, it's coz it's versitile. It fits all situations reasonably well.
And coz it's simple, you can literally teach a child to use it properly (fire, aaim, change mag, ect. not just pull the trigger, anyone can do that.)

and people do. ak-47 are cheap, costs $5 to get one in third world countries and militias often use them because of their availability. There are many countries where children are taught to use ak 47s.

any way on the subject at hand, no it shouldn't have any difference in gameplay, but if they are already included it no point taking it out.

also does anyone else feel its ironic that one of the archetypes is called 'the G'?

Can anyone explain how exactly this went from pistols to ak-47, anyway pistols should be able to be fired sideways, its just one of those aesthetic features I see Brink including, if you were in the resistance you would definitely hold your pistol sideways. I dont see one player model affecting the game at all but then again its all those small details that add up and push back the release date.

That is exactly what I was wondering, it's like everyone took an advanced course in "The prefered Assault Rifles of the entire world"
It's Pistols I'm talking about :shakehead: and I don't care if the AK47 is what started the whole hold guns sideways thing, this isn't a History lesson.
Sorry if I'm being a bit ignorant and insulting all the gun veterans and experts but really... It's like I'm talking to wikipedias permanently stuck on AK47
inb4allofyou :gun: Me with all of your detailed arguments

That said it might possibly be the way the pistol/one handed guns in general will be used while sprinting with that special skill that enables sprint shooting

to get back to topic, i voted yes.
IMO its those small things giving games an edge. i.e. loved the feature to change the weapon hand to left (guess it was cs:s that came up first with it). details like these make my day.
