Holding a Pistol sideways: yay or nay?

Post » Sat Sep 19, 2009 3:03 pm

also don't tell me that the ak47 is over rated. any weapon that fires a 7.62 round with a muzzle velocity of 710 meters per second (2,300 ft/s). is a formidable weapon period. I sure as [censored], wouldn't want to be on the business end of that thing :mohawk:

Doesn't matter how hard it hits if you can't hit [censored] with it. I guarantee you've never shot one if you're praising it that much.

The Ak-47 is one hell of a weapon, not only is it cheap but reliable and powerful, it's favored by Guerrilla fighters because of its versitility, ruggedness, and reliablity in all weather, including immersion in mud, sand, dirt, and snow.
If you've ever fired one in the field and not some [censored] suburban shooting range then come talk.

And btw drive-bys use submachine guns not high powered assualt rifles so there is no argument to be had anyway, If you cant hit a target with a submachine gun that fires 900+ rpm you have problems.
And If people were concerned with accuracy and not a few bullets landing in their target they would snipe them or do a drive-stop-and driveaway (doesn't have the same ring to it though).

Also, the original Ak-47 design's made it nearly impossible to fire it straight while laying down, so they had to hold it sideways. Also with a pistol if you hold it sideways you can blindfire without exposing your hands, but it makes your accuracy go down even more. But no holding any gun sideways unless I can hold my pistols upside down.

Obviously havnt held an AK47 before. Having some experience, its an uncomfortable weapon in general and even though its got a tall profile, its as easy as any other gun to fire prone, just less comfortable, which is the bane of the AK series. Still, its cost to effectiveness ratio is staggering...

Holding pistol sideways should be optional, but you have to spend points to be able to buy that, just like any other customization. Doesn't hurt anyone and doesn't change the gameplay other than people having just another thing to spend their points on.

I can agree to that... So long as they have to still aim down the sights...

http://paralleled.files.wordpress.com/2008/06/souleater0326lg.jpgThirded. :disguise:

what the fff.... nevermind...

On second thought, i've actually have experience holding a gun upside down from a class awhile back... theres only 1 reason on the ENTIRE FACE OF THIS BLUE PLANET to even try this, being that in self defense, the disarm they teach you has multiple levels. Expert level disarms you actually end up with weapon in your hands, pointing at them, but sometimes it doesnt always work "properly" and the gun will be upside down, and the technique teaches you how to hold it and pull the trigger with the gun still inverted.

The only reason this works is simply because at the range your holding the gun (literally 1-3 feet, if not already point blank jabbing into them) its just a point and shoot.

oh and ak-47 = over rated

Except its not only the most inexpensive, widely used, most easily modable weapon in the entire world, but its firepower and reliability make it just silly... How many other guns can keep firing even while its so hot the wood is catching on fire?

The AK47 gave birth to this topic, since its where the hole sideway pistol screwup people took came from. I dont think its that far off. Ontop of that no one really went that far from the topic of holding your pistol in various manors.

Ha, I did read it all and all I saw was you over using an emote and spewing stuff you got off of wikipedia and call of duty at people, it shows you've never fired an AK47/AKM. It is a great gun for those who need it but in todays world there are much better choices.

I don't care if the ak47 was or wasn't the first gun using sideway shooting. It's not even a PISTOL in the first place.

I say yay for pistol sideways as customization. The way you hold your pistol in an expression of yourself, just like the other aspects of your character will be.

how do you figure, that "thats the pot calling the kettle black". also dont go talking about gun devoted fanboyism, I'm sataing facts about a firearm that video game nerds like you for example. have given a bad rap be cause of the way the developers set them up in video games. that's not fanboyism not even close and I would've done the same thing if some ninny, came along and said the same garbage about the m4 or an 870. :mohawk:

See, that's what I mean. You called evilweazel a troll, yet you yourself are throwing around insults and put-downs like nobody's business.

Also, I never said I knew anything whatsoever about the AK-47. All I said was that you don't need to get so uptight and over-excited whenever someone disagrees with you about your favorite gun(s). Well, not in those exact words, but basically, that was the message. And again, who cares? Do you get a hundred dollars every time you convince somebody over the internet that the AK-47 is great?

*ahem* Ok, ok, reasonable time. All I'm saying is that while you may have strong opinions on the subject, that is no reason to forget your manners or common courtesy. Surely we can have an intelligent discussion without resorting to name calling, eh? :foodndrink:

no I said he was trolling. there is a difference...... and he was....... when he couldn't win the argument on merit, he went for personal attacks and broad based assumptions. hence he was trolling. but I'm done responding to this thread, because it's getting way outta hand. also I've invested far more time into it, than I ever should've

I know plenty about AR's

but... isn't that irrelevant?

isn't the OP about firing Pistols sideways?

I vote yes, but should take a "skill" slot.

Zero game effect, just modifies your character + hud.

they won't add it if it ain't already in though....

I picked no because... why should this be included? Maybe if it was called "Brink: Gang Wars, yo" I could see why...

Seriously though, would a feature like this really be worth dev resources, as small as the requirements may or may not be?

Better question: If they've added it already, would you want them to remove it?

I'd say leave it in, but as noted should take up an "ability slot" or maybe a weapon customization slot would be more appropriate
