Holds in Lore sizes

Post » Sat Mar 30, 2013 8:28 am

Hello Everybody.
I had a thought lately, it is known that Skyrim in Lore is much larger than Skyrim in the actual game, so how large do you think Skyrim really is ?
In my opinion, each Hold is the size of the Vanilla game, what are your thoughts ?
Discuss.

I'd have to know the scale to make a close estimate.

Yeah, there really isn't enough data to make an esitmated guess.

I always hear that Whiterun Hold and Hafingaar Hold are the largest.

In-game books of course.

According to a little http://i.imgur.com/hnK96LP.jpg, Skyrim is slightly bigger than Germany. Might be a bit hard to see it.

I'm not talking about the size--->real life size.
I'm talking about how much Skyrim is bigger in the Lore.

Direct me to some in-game resources, and we MIGHT be able to formulate some educated estimations.
What is the player characters MPH while at full stride?
What is that MPH in comparison to how long it takes to reach one end of the map to the other?
Things like this.

The holds are all the size of Russia. I know because my dad works at Nintendo, and they own Skyrim, so I know.

I know that "The Real Barenziah" mentions that it takes two-three weeks or something for a trading caravan - which would move slowly - to get from central Skyrim (Whiterun?) to Riften.

Generally, you can say that 30 km/day would be a good but not excessively high travelling speed by foot (I've previously looked at several sources to come up with this, I'm not saying it's the absolute number, but something like it). A caravan would move slower, say 20 km/day, which would make the distance between Whiterun and Riften around maybe 300-400 km. Or something like that.

If someone likes, check "Barenziah" for the actual distance and number of weeks (I don't remember if it really was Whiterun to Riften).

It's not about the EXACT sizes, it's about how big you think it is.
Once again, I think each hold in Lore is the size of Skyrim in the game, so the Lore size might be something like Skyrim x9.

Lore Skyrim is at least 10 times larger than game Skyrim, by my guestimate.

But Lore would be factual...Our interpretation is not...that would be speculation at best, and personal opinion at worst.
This kinda falls into what I keep saying...Are we talking about ACTUAL Lore...or OUR Lore?

How amazing it would be :(
Two in game weeks to actually get out of Whiterun Hold..
I remember there was a mod for Oblivion which changes the game world size, maybe I can hope ?

Interesting. It's based on Daggerfall, right? I thought the Iliac Bay region was a bit larger, but it still works as a rough estimate. It would be nice to see the whole map.

In the Arena manual Tamriel itself is said to be 12 square million kilometers. Using a grid on a map of Tamriel, I found Skyrim to be roughly 1,372,000 square kilometers in size. Not sure how accurate that is.

The cities and holds would be bigger than in game obviously, there would also be a much bigger population, same with Raven Rock, it would probably be bigger than in game as well.
